Hi! I’m a Roman Rite Catholic simply asking if there are any Eastern Rite Churches in the Philippines. I’ve been to many places in the Philippines but I have yet to find an Eastern Rite Church. Thank you and God bless!🙂

There seems to be no Eastern Rite Catholic presence in the Philippines.

There is at least one Orthodox Mission.

There are at least TWO! One under the EP, and one under the Antiochians. The Antiochians have had some success recently with the mass conversion of a Protestant community. The EP’s Orthodox parishes (from what I have read) tend to be very ethnic Greek, set up by the “diaspora” community of business folks and such. (Only mentioning to say that in the latter case, many Filipinos might not know about them if they have no dealings with this community… On the other hand, maybe there has been much intermarriage!)

Ukrainians tend to traverse the earth… Find a Ukrainian community, I bet you will find at least a small or informal mission.

Actually, the EP parish (where I go to church) is mostly Filipino now, though the Greeks still go there. We also have a Russian go to church with us, and quite recently 3 teen Antiochians from the U.S. also go to Divine Liturgy. From time to time the Ethiopians also drop by. The other EP parish in San Pedro, Laguna is mostly Filipino as well. Two EP missions down south are Filipino.

I also heard Eastern Catholic Mission in Cagayan de Oro:

Metropolia of Americas
Eastern Catholic Archdiocese ( autocephalus )
Chaldean - Syrian

Under Metropolitan Mar Mikhael of Edessa, O.S.J.
(Chief Hierarch)

I think they are Orthodox and I think they use the Byzantine Rite, Im not sure… actually I have attended the Mass once just two years ago.
