I thought we could share ideas and information about all the good foods out there for pregnant women. šŸ˜ƒ and not just taste good foods, i know all too much about those šŸ‘

what did you eat that kept you feeling full and was healthy

what did you do if you all too often craved sweets

donā€™t think i pregnant yet, but could be, i just got my ā€œfirstā€ period just the other day (8 months pp) and i want to eat really healthy this time.

going home now!! god bless and good night!!

i thought pregnant women eat a lot of ice cream and pickles. my mom craved chili when pregnant with me (no beans thank goodness).

Hmmm, lots of orange juice is really important. Your body, and the baby will need the folic acid. šŸ‘

For your sweet tooth, one serving of milk chocolate can help with feeling down, and studies show that the baby is happier too. One serving of dark chocolate has shown to be a good anti-oxidant.

No pickle sundaes or milk shakes for me though. Yuck. šŸ˜ƒ

Number one on the list for pregnant mothers is a good prenatal vitamin.

I just had to make my first late night, ā€œWeā€™re out out dark chocolate ice creamā€ run for my wife. ( 4 months along and counting).

I developed gestational diabetes with my last two children so Iā€™ve had to eat a lot healthier. I follow the diabetic diet as soon as I learn Iā€™m pregnant. So far I donā€™t have troubles outside of pregnancy. I still donā€™t go wild but I do have treats now and then when Iā€™m not pregnant.

When Iā€™m pregnant I eat a lot of protein and low carbs. My meals plan that comes from the nutritionist goes like this:

Breakfast = 2 carbs, 2 proteins - no milk or fruit at breakfast
Snack =1 carb, 1 protein
Lunch =3 carbs (which can be fruit, milk or carb item like bread
3 proteins
Snack =1 carb, 1 protein
Dinner =same as lunch
Snack =same as other two

1 carb = 15 grams of carbohydrates. Stay away from products that have sugar in the first few ingredients.

Iā€™m not very fond of this much structure or lack of chocolate :eek: but itā€™s good for us and keeps babyā€™s size down. Also, keeps my weight down. I still crave sweets now and then but I just offer it up for all of my kids. This helps a little. Fruit also helps. You can have a whole cup of blueberries which is more than most fruits.

In the end, itā€™s a small portion of my life. Hopefully, Iā€™ll get some serious time off in Purgatory. Heaven knows I need it! After this current pregnancy, Iā€™ll have been pregnant over 5 years of my life!

Prenatals have always made me even more sick. There are childrenā€™s vitamins that my doctors have recommended for me that work just as well, but Iā€™d suggest talking to your doctor first if anyone is considering this.

ditto on the prenatals. They made me sick as a dogā€¦ok, even sicker than I already was.

My brother-in-law, who is an ob/gyn also said it was ok to take a childrenā€™s vitamin instead.

I ate cheese, chicken and eggs and drank only club soda for the first 5 months of my pregnancy (my son is 4 months). It was all I could tolerate. Just looking at any kind of carbs made me sick. Congrats to you if you can eat regular food!

My mother apparently had absurd cravings for Big Macs and ice cream while she was pregnant with me. Big Macs are disgustingā€¦ I mean, those patties have got to have something other than beef in themā€¦ yech.

actually, they are all beef, but not the best parts of the cow. i knew some one who used to work for mcdonaldā€™s packing factory and he said that nothing goes to waste (not in a good way). if there was beef on the floor, it would be picked up and packed in with the rest. nothing goes to waste.

This reminds me of a sign I saw at the grocery deli counter last year. Apparently they were having a sale on ā€œAll-Meat Bolognaā€. I stood there for a minute trying to figure out what besides meat one could expect to find in bologna. Then I decided I was probably better off not knowing. šŸ˜›

As for the topic: I have no idea. Weā€™re trying for our first child, but I wonā€™t know one way or another for a couple of weeks if we were successful. I get really horrible cravings for sharp cheddar cheese and Ruffles potato chips during PMS. Iā€™m hoping that wonā€™t be my trend during pregnancy- not exactly healthy. Apparently my neighbor across the street craved fresh fruit when she was pregnant with her son. Would that all women were so lucky.

Not to get too far off topic, but a previous post about the mystery meat in Bic Macs reminded me of this:

A friend of mineā€™s uncle drives a truck delivering the meat to all the fast food places like Wendyā€™s, Jack in the Box, et al., and he told her that the least choosy of the restaurants is McDonaldsā€™s. He says they buy the meat no one else will take because itā€™s crawling with worms and bugs. After hearing that, you can bet I make my burgers at home with meat Iā€™ve bought myself!

When I was expecting our 3rd, Big Macs were the only thing that tasted good and stayed down in the first month or so! Go figure šŸ™‚ ā€”KCT

Just think of all that extra added protein! šŸ˜›

I no longer eat at McDonalds for a different reason altogether.
