I’m curious if anyone here believes that the Ebola crisis escalating during the synod on the family as a mere coincidence or if there is a spiritual dimension to this to consider with the timing of all this.

Thoughts?

Coincidence. We can’t attach any spiritual significance to a medical crisis.
According to scripture, God has sent catastrophes to us as punishment, but (and this is key) he always gave us plenty of warning to change.

HE HAS. At Fatima, and MAANYYYY other apparitions, approved ones, Mary has said that plauges will come if we dont turn from sin. She said so. So we WERE warned in this case.
ESPECIALLY FATIMA.
And Fatima’s feast day was TWO DAYS AGO. So I would not discount the spiritual dimensions to it.

I don’t get it. Are you saying that you think your god doesn’t like the way that your religion’s leaders are meeting and discussing things, so as retaliation, he’s killing a bunch of people in Africa with ebola?

Am I hearing that one right?

I would not even say such a thing rises to the level of coincident. The number of deaths are so small compared to total deaths. Also, the synod doesn’t isn’t even an ecumenical council. If we are going to see something significant and dire, I would say the Royals in the World Series might be the beginning of the Apocalypse.

Actually, my initial reaction was how the Ebola crisis is over-loading in media coverage whereas ‘in calmer times’ the Synod may have gotten much more media focus/scrutiny.

I believe the events in and of themselves are unrelated. In other words, this isn’t the wrath of God coming down upon the Church via the Ebola pestilence.

However, it is possible that the events unfolding regarding Ebola may divert focus (perhaps spiritually ‘influenced’, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say spiritually ‘ordained’ for lack of a better term) regarding what the Pope and cardinals are discerning.

Guys, I think the synod is unrelated. The real event that connects to ebola is the Fatima Feast Day because fatima predicted plauges.

Ah, I see. I misinterpreted what you were actually saying.
