My mother informed me that Circuit City lost alot of sales this year. Could it possibly be because while they are trying to line the pockets of the executives they laid off their higher paid sales people earlier this year then told them they could come back in 6 to 8 months at a lower pay? When are we going to wake up to fight against this injustice?

Economic injustice isn’t about American consumer electronics stores having labor problems. Injustice is people who work six days a week in the Philippines for about 3 or 4 dollars a day, and spending a lot of that on transportation to and from work because of $100 a barrel oil.

Agreed. It’s not as bad but it is still an example of the disparity. And the guys at the top of Circuit City don’t realize their income is derived from the sales guys at the bottom. It is a disgrace and I will never step foot into their store again.

I have no comment on their hiring practices, but yes the reason I don’t shop there is they do not have enough sales people and many of them are clueless about the products they sell. Unless you know exactly what you want by name and model number, and get there when it is not crowded, you will seldom find anyone who can give you any reliable information, or anyone ready to take your money. We buy electronics almost exclusively on-line anymore, because this store and its closest competitor have the same problems.

Well it looks like their stratigic decision regarding their sales staff is going to have a negative consequences for them. They can only line their pockets so long, unless they don’t “right their sinking ship.” If you strangle to Goose That Lays The Golden Egg, you can eat goose for a while, but eventually your left with no more gold, nor goose.

Are these sales people free to demand a higher wage or refuse to return? If they are free then it is not economic injustice. It is not purely their freedom however if these people are in the US where the electronics industry is open market there is no injustice. In justice involves more the systematic procedures used to prevent people from keeping their earnings. For example many people around the world want to work for reasonable wages to include many Africans, Mexicans, Iraqis, Iranians, etc. But because of government polices they are not allowed to free bid for jobs. That is economic injustice. Additionally many government actions raise barriers too many industries for example just try to buy oil direct from a foreign country, or try to drill for oil, you will probably be in jail! That is economic injustice. The government uses systems to control oil and the economics of many countries and that is unjust. Additionally it is proof our government officials either have some disbelief in free markets or an alternative agenda.

It looks like you answered your own question. the fact that their sales are lower is an indication that they have fewer customers. That is usually the way people indicate their distaste of a company’s practices.

Or a struggling middle class that cannot spend money on consumer goods.
