Hi, I recently bumped into a Orthodox forum at the web (the biggest one online) and registered there so Im able to pray with our Orthodox brethren aswell as talk about faith.
So my question is this; is this a good idea?
Should I stay away from their forum or should I embrace them as fellow Christians?
Just so it has been said, Im a firm believing Catholic and Rome is my home so to say so Im not afraid of ending up Orthodox myself as Catholisism is the only thing for me:)
Besides if anything I would try to talk them over to the papacy:D

So any advice regarding participation on their forum?

Embrace them as brethren, but stay off their forum. I left myself for many reasons which don’t need to be expressed here, but you’ll get better information from books. That’s just my advice. Face to face friendship is fine, but the forum isn’t a place I would recommend.

Try not to challenge every question and answer they bring up. Try to understand from their point of view. The Catholic person can be just as difficult as the Orthodox person if the two of you are heading for some confrontation. Try to find something (some middle ground) they say you agree to and converse from that platform. Try not to find any disagreement unless they have asked for it. If you are trying to convince them Rome is always right you will find yourself in deep trouble. It is the same when Orthodox come on Catholic online services and try to convince the Roman Catholics how correct the Orthodox Church is. Try to find some middle line (ground) so that you will find enjoyment in talking to someone who is not Catholic (or Orthodox) yet this person is just as Orthodox (or Catholic) as you are. The beauty of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches is how much different they see on the same things. I think this is by far a great bonus. We can always grow deeper within our common faith. We can always learn something from each other.
