I am somewhat confused - Ecumenism is the title of the thread - but you appear to be talking about world converson to the CC - two entirely different topics.

ummm, actually it is. JP2, Paul VI, as well as the Second Vatican Council all said that nothing could be further from the true idea of ecumenism than the idea that we’re not interested in presenting the Truth, rather we’re just interested in all becoming friends again. if you think ecumenism is just a word to describe “forget conversion, let’s just hold hands” you’re very wrong. that is a dangerous thing to think. one religion IS NOT just as good as the next. that’s religious indifferentism and it’s condemned by the Church. In fact, JP2 in Ut Unim Sint said that religious indifferentism is contrary to God. The ultimate goal of ecumenism is christian UNITY. Do you know what unity is? Just what Paul in the Bible tells us: that we believe the same doctrine, all of it, not just “the basics.”
Ecumenism is different than proselytising because we’re not going around and saying “convert or be damned.” Instead, we’re reaching out to other Christians, and indeed, other religions and trying to find common ground. But we’re not trying to be content with this common ground. The ultimate goal is to see what we have in common, then present the truth in a calm, rational, and charitable way, as described by Vatican II. And if ecumenism’s ultimate goal is not conversion-- out of free, loving choice-- to the Catholic Church, why did JP2 call for “a new evangelization”?
Please do your homework on ecumenism and stop spreading the lie of religious indifferentism.
