Such a talent! And in interviews he seemed like a really good guy. Not a stuck up celebrity but down to earth. He certainly had vices, but oh what a talent!!! I too was stunned when I read about his passing.
I have long since forgiven him for swiping Valerie Bertinelli from me. For men of a certain age, who came of age in the late 1970s, no further explanation is necessary. Still a lovely lady to this day.
He was one of my high school crushes… that impish smile of his got me every time. I didn’t even realize at the time what a master guitarist he was.
@HomeschoolDad–we had a hard time forgiving Valerie Bertinelli for swiping him from us, but in retrospect, we thought they made a “cute couple” (the ultimate compliment back in the '80s.)
The Dutch are pretty tolerant people on general principles. Ben Kingsley and Merle Oberon were both part-Indian, though Miss Oberon felt like she had to keep this hidden. I am so thankful people don’t think like this anymore.
My son…a huge Van Halen fan told me that when Eddie first learned of his tongue cancer, he blamed it on his use of metal and copper picks…which he always had one in his mouth. No idea if it has any merit but…
