Went to my normal OF parish for Palm Sunday (Passion) Mass and obviously there were more people than usual. I dont know which part bothered me more that I was trying to tune out. The screaming toddlers (as I parent I understand that it happens, but you need to take your child out if it continues too long) or the older “ladies” that were chatting about the toddlers screaming to each other during the mass. I had to look over there and stare them to down to be quiet.

I know we are supposed to focus on Jesus and Eucharist, but I think the people chatting about crying kids were worse than the crying kids, since the kids were not at an age of reason to fully understand what is happening.
 
I remember my old priest once saying to me that he’d told people off for talking during Mass! He said it hadn’t made him very popular, but at least now no-one dared to start chatting! 😃

Thankfully, I’ve never been conscious of much talking *during *the Mass at the church I attend now, though the talking beforehand does depress me a little. Sadly, I’ve never known a church where people refrain from coming in until they’re ready to be quiet though! :rolleyes:
 
Don’t forget the teenaged girls dressed immodestly…:dts:
 
I was told that we are on God’s time when in the sanctuary.

And it’s even worse after Mass isn’t it? You know, when people clap after the recessional hymn and then go over and talk to their friends. The church turns into a great convention hall after the Mass, just like any other building. At least before Mass there is some recognition of the sanctity of being so near the Tabernacle, but after Mass there are no holds barred. It really burns me up every time. :mad:
