Hey there everyone!

I just wanted to know, what is the age requirement for being a Eucharistic Minister. I ask because recently I saw in the Archdiocese’s Newspaper that about 21 high school students (my age group) because Eucharistic Ministers. I am really interested in becoming one too.

Thanks!
God Bless.

Let me just get it across there that the technical term is Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Eucharistic Minister is the priest, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are the lay people.

I know that in my diocese the age requirement is 21 years of age or older, and you must take some training for it; however, I’m sure that in other dioceses the age requirement can be different.

In my honest opinion, I wouldn’t let high school kids be an EMHC, but that’s just my opinion.

That’s the thing, I didn’t know the Church allowed for such young people to be Extraordinary Ministers. In my diocese it seems it is 16/17.

Also, I completely forgot the technical term. 👍

😃

No problem. I’m in the high school range myself, and I don’t agree with it.

I just wanted to throw the technical term out myself before you uncharitably get your head bitten off by a certain group of people.

Thanks for looking out for me! 😃

Also, I would like to be one since I have the chance, but truthfully, I would prefer that the age requirement be raised, so that the people could be more mature and acknowledge what they are getting into.
