Why does sin effect different people in different ways? Say a fallen away Catholic who gets drunk a lot, is using birth control and commiting sins of impurity, yet they are as happy as can be, no health problems, etc. On the other hand you have a Catholic who is assumingly in a state of grace and used to sin a lot but has over the years repented and been forgiven, yet this person is depressed, anxious, always tired and tempted a lot and always seems to be remorseful of their past sins. Why such a difference? I see this a lot and can’t put a finger on it?
