I very, very, very much dislike Elizabethan English. I wish it were banned in America.

No. Not spoken. In literature. Nobody talks that way. That’s why I dislike it. It is like mutilating the language I grew up speaking.

Then do not read books written in that style. I, for one, love the beauty of the DR Bible, or the KJV, give me the romantic age any day!

Some writings, for instance, St. Ausgustine were translated into Elizabethan English and are difficult for someone like me to find in modern, normal English.

Sold!
I just bought used for $5 lol. Thank you.

When you are struggling finding a book, ask, there are a bunch of smart people here who can find amazing things!

I found listening to an audiobook of “Confessions” was good for me. Free from my public library via the Hoopla app.

Honestly, it has been so long ago that I do not remember.

Elizabethan English is more manageable than Middle English, and immensely more understandable that Old English. But the Middle English of Chaucer is rather pleasant.

Are you aware that you would singlehandedly destroy the Ren Faire industry?
All those poor actors with no gig and no place to wear their costumes
