Background
The SeventhDay Adventist (SDA) church espouses that the “Spirit of Prophecy” are the revelatory writings of Ellen Gould White (EGW) e.g. that the writings of Ellen White were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Ellen White is most notable for her declaration that just prior to the Second Coming of Jesus, those who go to church on Saturday will be persecuted, while those who go to church on Sunday have received the mark of the beast.
Ellen White is less known for her 1844 Sanctuary Cleansing Doctrine. However, it is from this false doctrine that sprang forth the SeventhDay Adventist church! :ehh:
History
William Miller made a false prophecy that Jesus would return to the earth in 1844. When He didn’t come, Ellen G. White made a subsequent false prophecy that in 1844, the Lord Jesus had actually “entered the Holy of Holies” in heaven in 1844 and He purportedly began judging the living and the dead – in preparation for His Second Coming – and He has purportedly been doing so from 1844 until now. :tsktsk:
Ellen White’s 1844 Sanctuary Cleansing doctrine is twofold. First, Ellen White correctly declares that the Lord Jesus Christ entered heaven after His resurrection 2000 years ago. Second, Ellen White falsely declares that Jesus did not enter the heavenly “holy of holies” until the year 1844, whereupon He purportedly began judging the lives of the living and the dead in 1844 – and he has purportedly been doing so from 1844 until now → all according to the teachings of Ellen G. White, who is now deceased.
The creation of this false doctrine by Ellen White was an attempt to salvage the lost faith of those who were disappointed when Jesus didn’t return, as promised, in 1844. From Ellen White’s false doctrine of her 1844 Sanctuary Cleansing doctrine sprang forth the SDA church, to include Ellen White’s declaration that “Sunday Keepers” have received the mark the beast, while Saturday sabbath keepers have the seal of God and are consequently going to heaven.
Conclusion
Many Adventists are extremely devoted and religious and have a genuine love for Jesus, but conversely, many SDA pillars are false doctrines of devils that are built upon theological quicksand.
