I looked back in my posting history–a few weeks ago, several CAF friends/members were writing that there is no proof, even from the science of embryology, that the embryo or fetus is a “human being” and therefore, we should not condemn those who advocate abortion for women who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy.

I stopped arguing because other than the argument from embryology, I had nothing.

But today’s Scripture reading (for the Daily Mass, if we were attending!) is hard to get past for Christians!

Isaiah 49 1: The Lord called me before I was born, while I was in my mother’s womb, He named me.

Isaiah 49: 5 And now the Lord say, who formed me in the womb to be His servant…

There are plenty of other Scripture verses that make it clear that even before a child is conceived, God already has plans for that human being!

Isn’t the same thing still true today? God loves and has plans for each human being before they are conceived and while they are in the womb! Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross for every human, born and unborn!

Oh, people can deny it and say that this is just “old-fashioned Bible language” and does not mean the same today. But if you go down that road, be prepared to refute over 2000 years of scholars and pastors who have spent much of their lives studying and living the Bible; many of these men and women were brilliant, with minds that understood far more than I will ever understand!

And also, when we start picking and choosing which portions of Scripture are true/relevant, and which are no longer applicable–we are walking close to a precipice that could lead us to fall into apostacy and denial of basic Christian doctrine and truth. If the embryo in the womb was not created a human and has a destiny that God Himself planned, then perhaps Jesus didn’t REALLY die on a cross to redeem human beings, but merely was executed for being a revolutionary teacher. And of course, His “resurrection” was probably just symbolic, because His “teachings” lived on, even after He died.

See how easy it is to make up our own reality?

Friends, abortion kills a human being, created and loved by God. Those political candidates who support this heinous act are courting disaster for themselves and for our country. Don’t vote for them. Vote for those who are pro-life from conception to natural death, and write THOSE candidates to urge them to support the charitable and pro-family policies that you thought that your pro-choice candidate supported.

If enough people switch from these pro-choice candidates and vote for viable candidates and then HOLD THESE CANDIDATES ACCOUNTABLE for supporting policies that are friendly to all oppressed groups, we CAN see a more righteous government that truly offers liberty and justice for ALL.
