Lately I’ve been wondering what the resurrected body of a person would look like if they died as an embryo. Would they have the appearance that they were genetically programmed to have had they not died? And if so, wouldn’t that mean that you believe that in heaven we retain our basic pre-resurrection human appearance? (Or do we look completely different? I know the disciples didn’t recognize Jesus after the Resurrection, but those stories are more about how they needed the eyes of faith than a commentary on what form a resurrected body might look like).

An interesting question but one that leads only to speculation. It seems most likely that an embryo won’t retain its physical appearance but, as you say, have the appearance that they were genetically programmed to have had they not died. The problem here is that our appearance is constantly changing throughout life. Perhaps we have a choice in the matter… 🙂

What really counts is that our body is glorified. Physical appearances will be far less important than they are on earth…

We will resurrect in the same but “upgraded” bodies. Jesus Christ resurrected in the same body but the body of Christ after resurrection had many more special qualities than the crucified body. In other words, Jesus resurrected in an “upgraded” body. To answer your question, an embryo even though is a human being, isn’t fully human. We will resurrect “WHOLLY” not partially. The embryo in my opinion will resurrect as a fully developed (whole) Human being.
