Emergency during Mass

DJgang, stepping into your shoes for just a moment…what I would do…

Watch my intake of fluids before Mass, if this doesn’t resolve the problem, then I might would mention it to my doctor on the next visit.

Then, I would probably think ahead. Maybe leaving during the Offertory to go to the restroom, then I would be all empty, ready to go and concentrate on the Mass.

I personally would make every effort not to leave right after the blessing during the last hymn.

One thing that I have found is fairly lacking in disruption (sometimes my children declare it impossible to wait, even though they’ve all gone within an hour of the start of Mass–since we have to be there early for older two sons to get ready)–we sit in the very front. I make them wait until after I’ve received and then as we’re heading back to our row, the “must go now” child just keeps walking back and down to the bathroom. He’s back before the last people have received. Yes, I know it’d be better for him to not need to at all–but since I already restrict beverages after 8pm (and this is a 9am Mass), I’m not sure what more can be done, but at least this method minimizes any disruption that might disturb the prayers of the others there.
