Hello, please if you could, pray for me and my husband. My husband took a job in a business that has a shady owner - and he has a mistress who he is letting work at this place now (she has been not been physically at the business for a while, but has in the past and is now again).

My husband is the boss there, but she has this thing for authority and has already made it clear she has it out for him (and she’s never even met him).

Yesterday my husband was not there (her first day) and she already was complaning about him and his “work” - he has always tried to get things to run better and be more organized, but the owner is only interested in making more money ( and his mistress). To get things to run better my husband needs authority to make changes and needs money to make changes and organize it better because that place is run horribly - but the owner has always said no, run it how I want it and no money to improve things.

well she has come in now and is saying how my DH is doing things is not good and it should be this and that way (by the way, what she is saying is exactly what my husband has been saying, but of course the owner is thinking SHE is right!!! On the other hand, she has also made comments such as “why is he not here today? I wanted to meet him - I have heard his is so cute”

So, basically my husband has said he should have authority because that is what his job entails, but he knows she has it in for him (and she has made this known by doing nothing but complaining about him, bringing back workers that the owner and my husband thought are not being effective (but now the owner suddenly thinks they are) and she has a history of firing whoever she wants and the owner always backs her up no matter what (because she’s his mistress and probably has something on him).

Anyway, to shorten this up, my husband and I think that this is a bad work environment and we know this will probably end up badly, so instead of her trying to take revenge on him and firing him (to which her position doesn’t really have that authorty, but I guess having an affiar with a married man gives her that authority), he is going to quit and look for other employment.

Please pray that he will find something. I am not employed and have been at home. I will obviously now be looking for a job too. Thanks.

This sounds like a very difficult situation and I’m concerned for you both. It certainly isn’t helpful to your husband to be so unfairly treated or to be under such stress.

May God be with you both to help you deal with the stress and anxiety.
I ask God to help your husband to find suitable work, and quickly.

I’ll remember you both in prayers and Masses, Trishie

I know how you feel and how hard it must be for both of you. I’ve been fired two times in my life…once for refusing to jeopardize my notary license when an attorney “told” me to notarize a document I didn’t see get signed…and another because I missed too much work when my husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I too am looking for work and in this economy it is tough out there. I’m keeping you both in my prayers. Just don’t give up and stay strong and faithful…Above all, trust in God now more than ever. If that door does happen to close…another one will open. As a side note, I live in Florida and down here they can basically “fire” you if they don’t like the color of your car and get away with it. BUT if they do that and there is no “reasonable cause” (not capable of doing the work, hostile attitudes, etc.) then you can get unemployment. I know I am not supposed to give advice but check out the unemployment guides in your state…there are some shady companies out there that fight unemmployment because they dont’ want their rates to go up.
May God Bless You Both.
AND keep your chin up…it will work out…and it always does…
