There have been lots of people that thought they were easing the signs right and that God was coming back. Like the LDS, JW and SDA’s. They were sure they could the signs in their days so please be careful about thinking you can see exactly what Christ was talking about. Instead live each day as though this is the hour of salvation and if today your last day or THE last day repent now and spread the Gospel.It is true no one can know the exact day or hour…BUT, Jesus also gave the faithful signs to watch out for, so they will know when he is at the door, I think alot of people forget this fact and like to just say, ‘NO ONE can know the day or hour’.
Its also important to keep in mind, Jesus said many of these signs would not be able to be understood until the times were right, so depending on how you take that, end times could be now. Im on the fence about this, however I do think its pretty important that many of these ‘signs’ we are able to understand in our modern times, that is probably pretty significant.

Ten being the number of completion (Ten Commandments, four points on the compass X ten = a 40 day flood, David’s reign, Solomon’s reign etc) that number taken threefold (the Trinity is the total expression of perfection) you get 101010=1000 years of peace. Thousands of Muslims are converting to Christianity, never before seen in history (the Jews could very well be next). The Gospel has been spread throughout the whole world, and in this dag and age with technology its even easier.
Obviously the Antichrist must come, that hasnt happened yet.
Btw, Jesus said no one knows the hour. He didnt say no one knows the times, in which he described several signs that would signal the coming of the end.
Going on 60 years now and I am not being disrespectful. Every faithful Christian longs for the return of Christ and I do not doubt the Pontif was sincere in his statement, but imagine how he would feel today? I mean when I was a kid everyone thought nuclear war was what revelation was on about (even though a generation before no one knew what nuclear war was) and now seemingly the threat is passed. Does that Christ is not coming because those folks were wrong? No. Does it mean the faithful were wrong to pray for Christ’s return even though he did not? Another thing, before you go kicking over rocks looking for the antichrist remember John was talking about Nero and in 1John declared the spirit of antichrist which even now is. So clearly John understood it to be something extant in his day. And how did he define antichrist? As anyone that denies Christ has come in the flesh, which was the common ‘church’ heresy of his day.
Now the common ‘church’ heresy is to deny hell, judgement or that Christ was God at all.
So I think antichrist is not a person but a spirit. A spirit that disbelieved the confession of Christ and refuses to accept his clear call to repent and believe today. Like for example ministers that preach about the end of the world instead of Christ.
Meaning no one but the Father knows more than Jesus. No prophet, pope, saint or otherwise knows more than our Lord. Has He revealed what signs to look for? I think absolutely.Is your answer “no” to my question about if the Popes or St. Faustina would know if we’re nearing the end times?
