YouTube clip of people mocking my parishioners

I wasn’t there but the little group was just praying in front of an abortion clinic. This ArcadianArcade person baraged them with questions that they weren’t prepared for and now there are so many hateful comments.

I’m sure there are hundreds of other similar clips with disrespectful words toward christianity.

So many of the comments are from young people, mostly in their early to mid-20’s. They measure everything in the world against the Iraq war. I guess it’s an explanation of their attitude because the Iraq war has been around for a while, especially during their formative/thinking years (I’m being generous here).

I’ve left some comments but have ignored it for a few days. Like many here I need to take care of my family. I found myself reading too much off the Net and wasting too much time.

HOW to strike a balance between being an informed Catholic American citizen, and still be able to take care of family business, children, homeschool? :juggle:

I’m
If their mission was to pray in front of the abortion clinic, they should have continued praying, and not responded in any way to hecklers.

If their mission was education, they should have been prepared with responses.

If their mission was sidewalk counselling they should have been prepared for that ministry, and they would not have been at a loss.

the first thing your group must decide when you choose this witness is what is your purpose – today – because that will dictate your preparation, where you stand, what you say and do. seems as if this group could not make up its collective mind on their purpose and could not withstand the barrage because of it.

Ah, so they should have just ignored the heckler. I don’t think the group meant to do anything except pray. Our church just encourages whoever can to show up at the abortion clinic on Sat mornings to pray. Different people come on different Saturdays.

This is how the left takes advantage of well-meaning people. I guess they have more time than we do because they don’t have children, nor do they waste their time doing spiritual or corporal works of mercy. Sigh.

When our pro life groups does these kinds of public prayers, we are very clear with those who pray - you are here to pray. Do not respond in any way to negative comments, in fact, it is best to pray with your eyes closed (those who have kids need to keep the eyes on the kiddos of course).

Should someone be wanting education, we show the people which people are trained in education or sidewalk counseling.

Perhaps your Parish can put together some guidelines for those who pray, and your local Crisis Pregnancy Center can do some training for some of your group.

Puzzleannie has good suggestions. But about trying to keep from spending too much time answering on the internet, why not try using a little alarm clock. Set a limit for yourself. Half and hour or whatever and set the alarm. When the time’s up, it’s up.
