My husband didn’t seem to have any trouble … 😉

The main thing I can tell you is to TALK. Talk before, during, and after trying it the first time. It’s okay to talk about it a bit before the wedding, though don’t get carried away – it’s not good to obsess about it, and you might just end up getting yourselves more nervous. But ask her if she’s scared, if there’s anything particular she’s afraid of, etc. Then on the wedding night, ask her what she’d like best, if there’s anything you can do to make her more comfortable, if she’s ready (which may take a long time), etc. Also mentioning how beautiful she is in her wedding dress is sure not to hurt!

Just remember – it is just the two of you, after all. There’s no one you have to impress. This is just the two of you trying something you’ve never done before, and it’s okay if you admit that you don’t really know what you’re doing.

To chime in as well, I want to add another vote for “TALK to your fiancee!”

Since you just got engaged and the wedding date probably isn’t for awhile, your conversations right now don’t need to be (and probably shouldn’t be) incredibly detailed as to what you each are nervous about, what you are anticipating, and what you think each other should know.

For now, it’s just important to tell her honestly how you feel, that you are excited but nervous, and that you understand that you will have a lifetime of love to share with one another.

Also…don’t take sex too seriously. I don’t mean to say that sex with your spouse is not a life-giving, affirming, physical, psychological, spiritual experience and a renewal of your marriage vows. Of course it is all of those things. But it’s also very human, incredibly human, and full of joy and even full of humor. When you’re getting to know your spouse on the wedding night and during the honeymoon, it can be downright hilarious. Laugh a little (or a lot) and keep on lovin’! 👍
Pardon my ignorance, I know what Astroglide is, but is there any difference in this and KY Jelly?
I think I read some where that KY’s lubricant was initially developed as an aid for physicians performing pelvic exams. Obviously the marital embrace requires some different, erm, lubricative qualities. Also, KY can be spermicidal.

I’m not sure if Astroglide is spermicidal (I don’t believe it is), but it was definitely made for sex.

FWIW, both of these manufactured lubricants can tend to dry out and require replenishing before their job is done. DH and I have happily used plain old coconut oil when needed, and it’s all-natural and non-spermicidal.

Hello, Thank you for reading my post. I just proposed to my girlfriend on Friday, and as great as that is it has also brought a lot of worries to the surface for me. I had a conversion experience in high school and since then I have been living as chastely as possible by the grace of God. I’ve never had sex. I’m worried that I won’t perform well because of lack of experience.
I would like to hear from any guys out there who have gone through a similar situation. I want to stop feeling like I should call everything off because of this.
Please help!
Don’t worry. EVERY guy has a first time. This usually amounts to getting so excited that intercourse lasts about 15 seconds. Meaning you ejaculate because you are so nervous. Don’t worry. It will take a few times for the tension to wear off.

You will be with your wife who will love you. I second the previous comment about the astroglide. This is more for her than you. It can be very difficult for a women having sex for the first time. She will be nervous. When a woman is nervous her vagina does not lubricate itself like it would when she is not nervous. This can create friction which is painful for her. The astroglide can help a lot. It will also help to distract yourself.

Just don’t worry about it. Having sex with your wife is one of the best things that a new couple can do together. It will be new for both of you and something you can explore and enjoy together.

Astroglide seems to last longer than KY. KY gets sort of sticky as it drys out. The astroglide never gets sticky, it just seems to wear off and you need more 🤷. It is a lot better than KY if you need to choose one or the other. And it doesn’t have that doctors office feeling. 😛
