English to Latin translations?

Does anyone know of a good place to find Latin quotes from the Bible (I can’t read the Vulgate)… Or for starters can someone tell me how to write out, “not my will, but your will be done”? Thanks

The Navarre Bible works great for this! I don’t think it is online, but it is well worth buying. I have the individual Gospels and some of the New Testament. The commentary alone is worth the price.

If you know the verse in an English bible translation, you can look it up in a Vulgate.

One handy tool can be the Unbound Bible, which can be used to search in many languages and display results in parallel. Both the Clementine Vulgate and the *Nova Vulgata *are available.

Many have a difficult time learning something new without, you know, *learning *it.

Especially since it was not written ini Latin to start with?

Maybe because he’s not interested in the language of the Jews

Well then OK… could you give me the Aramaic translation (I know it wasn’t written in that either(well maybe parts), but rather spoken)… I really just love confusing myself I guess.

But if it makes you feel better I’ll explain… its for my nephew, whose godparents have been asked to write a few sentences down for them that will buried in a time capsule until they graduate from highschool (he’s in kindergarden)… I just thought it would be neat to include that as the ultimate short prayer in Latin, but hey Aramaic would be great too (If you want to throw me the Greek translation go for it).

It has the Latin Vulgate and the Douay Rheims English translation (which is basically literal), so you can page back and forth.

NB That site presents the Stuttgardt Vulgate, which may be of scholarly interest (and is ubiquitous on the interwebs) but, unlike the Clementine and Nova, was never a liturgically approved edition.
