The entrance of Lord to Jerusalem described in 4 Evangiles ( Mt 21, Mk 11, Lk 19, Io 12) is one of the main occurances of the last days of earthly life of Lord Jesus Christ - His triumphal appearance in Jerusalem before the Holy Day Paskha which chronologically preceded His Passion and was realization of Old Testament prophecy (Gen49, Ps 8, Zakh 9). The remembrance of this event is a great Ecclesial holiday in Orthodox church and is included in the 12 important holidays of Orthodoxy. It is celebrated on Sunday directly preceding Paschal sunday or Paskha and it begins Passion Week.
