Haven’t read much Newman, have you, Nella?

Newman wrote his Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine while he was still Anglican. Nothing in it in any way contradicts the Gospels. In fact, it is a profound exposition of essential Gospel teaching as applied to how we* understand* the impact of the Gospels in relation to ideas and conditions that did not exist when the Gospels were written.

Newman would agree, I think, if he were still alive.

But just because the Bible is the best written book in existence, that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing we should read.

Some people even enjoy Harry Potter, though it isn’t so inspiring.

Been there done that, got all my sacrements there. I prefer to be in the Anglican church once I realized that the Holy Spirit can come to any one of us and not just a group who calls themselves equal to the authority of Scripture. Too much man and not enough inspired word of God for me to have stayed Catholic. I left.

Too Much Man???!! And that problem was solved by the Anglican Church? The Church that now ordains women, openly homosexual ministers, open eucharist without regard to knowledge or faith and on and on. However, I will say the Holy Spirit changes people in amazing ways.
