Episcopalians??

Not even sure if that is spelled right. 🤷

What is the difference between them and Catholics now? I was at a “healing mass” where their bishop was present. I did not recieve communion but I swore I had just steped into a Catholic mass! It was a beautiful church with a small shirne off to the side with an icon of mary, and an icon of st. luke (that church’s name). Also an elderly woman was selling rosaries outside after the mass but they looked different. Any info?

Also the last thing i noticed was that their social hall was “Pope John Paul II Hall”

You appear to have stumbled into some sort of Anglo-Catholic church, though a “healing Mass” is not the sort of thing one associates with them. Anglo-Catholics are a subspecies of Anglicanism, and not a separate Church.

Rome considers such Episcopalians (and Anglicans, in general), to be Protestants and not to possess a valid priesthood, hence unable to confect valid sacraments, such as the Eucharist. By RCC rules, you did right not to receive.

As you might guess, Anglicans have a different idea on these things.

Hi SacredHeartFan,

I attend a Healing Service at our church almost every Wednesday. I am glad that you were able to attend this beautiful service. The following is from our Healing Service:

“Holy Scripture teaches us that Jesus healed many who were sick as a sign of the reign of God come near, and sent the disciples to continue this work of healing prayer in His name, that the afflicted might be raised up and their sins forgiven, bringing them to eternal salvation. By the laying of hands on the sick and anointing them, the disciples witnessed to the marvelous power and presence of God. Pray that as we follow their example, we may experience Christ’s unfailing love.”

We actually have the St. Catherine’s Guild at our Church that has made lovely icons that are through-out our Church. I believe that many of these icons are of the Blessed Mother with baby Jesus.

Anglican Rosary Beads or Anglican Prayer Beads–are a wonderful use for me as a form of contemplative prayer .
