Please forgive an ignorant question, but I am curious about the Essence and Energies concept. Let me state that I am not particularly knowledgeable about this concept, and probably know just enough to make a fool of myself, but something about it has been confusing me. What I am wondering is how does one understand this teaching without introducing parts into God? As I understand it one can know the Energies but not the Essence, and so I am having a trouble seeing how that doesn’t make one part of God somehow not another part of God.
