At a conversation with a friendly Baptist, He stated
that salvation cannot be lost because through their
baptism a person becomes a child of God and no matter how they sin they will always be a member of
Gods family hence their salvation is assured.

What is a good response for this.

A great answer can be found surprisingly where…In SCRIPTURE how novel!
John 15: 1-7, the dialogue about Jesus and the vine. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, and we are in him. And as long as we abide in Christ, we will bear much fruit. But anyone who does not remain in Christ will be thrown out and wither, and be burned. So how can if we are in Christ, the branches, we still be thrown out wither, and be burned, if we are still saved? Answer we cannot! Christ talks about a way where we, the saved, can become unsaved if we do not bear much fruit. As an added Christ also gives us the answer on how to abide in him and remain in his love in John 10, keep his commandments. Should be a good start of conversation.

St. Paul had a lot to say about this, these are the verses I usually refer to and then ask them to tell me what they think he is talking about:
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, so as to obey the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of iniquity unto sin: but present yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead; and your members as instruments of justice unto God.
Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under the law, but under grace.
Rom 6:15 What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid!
Rom 6:16 **Know you not that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death **or of obedience unto justice.
Paul here says about himself:
1Co 9:24 You know that in a race all the runners run but only one wins the prize, don’t you? You must run in such a way that you may be victorious.
1Co 9:25 Everyone who enters an athletic contest practices self-control in everything. They do it to win a wreath that dies, but we to win one that never dies.
1Co 9:26 That is the way I run, with a clear goal in mind. That is the way I box, not like someone punching the air.
1Co 9:27 No, I keep on beating my body and making it my slave so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified
How could the Apostle Paul be worried about his salvation, if Salvation were assured?

Peace

John

I like to go with James 5:19-20:
My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
Here we see someone who is a Christien (“any one among you”) straying from the truth and being turned back by a fellow Christian. The fellow Christian has saved the soul of the straying Christian from death. So this is an example of someone who had been saved, and lost his salvation, then regained it through the intervention of a fellow Christian. You can’t get much clearer that there is no “eternal security.”

Beware, however, that some of the translations will say something like “save him from death”, implying physical death rather than spritual. *E.g., * the Holman Christian Standard Bible published by an arm of the Baptist church says, “save his life from death.”
