I received some snail mail from Terri’s [Schiavo] Foundation. Which is unusual considering they usually email.

Anyway they wrote:

Did you know that right now, in hospitals from coast to coast ‘ethics’ boards are seeking to remove food and water from those who are NOT terminally ill? Did you know that in all but ten states - without legal and medical intervention - the hospitals have been empowered to do this? 😦

Keith Olbermann had said:

There is a very wrong - and horrible prejudice alive today against the defenseless, whether that be the unborn or the elderly or disabled. :dts:

God help any of us if this is the case.

Legal murder - keeping the population down.
 
As government becomes more and more involved in funding medical services, expect those services to be rationalized.

Whether it is Pelosi talking about birth control being good for the economy, Obama in Illinois protecting doctors from potential lawsuits over babies born alive, or now removing food and water from the most vulnerable, when life is not deemed inherenty valuable, the government values only the taxpayers.

The value of life is now measured by what one materially contributes to a society.

Last night at our Church social [yes we had one and we are Roman Catholic]
Anyway - everyone was fussing over one guy who was in a wheelchair and evidently unable to participate like a healthy human, but he was laughing [sort of a quiet chuckle] and smiling and enjoying all the attention and the pretty women getting to feed him ice cream.

I think to myself, if he ended up in the hospital he might not come back out if heaven forbid he needed a trachea and feeding tube.

Recently [Christmas eve] my mom who is wheelchair bound - had to go into the hospital and was put on a ventilator and had a month stay - because she needed to ween from the ventilator but her lung collapsed - she got pnuemonia twice and had to have a trachea. Basically she only has use of her hands now due to Gillian Bere’ [sp] and since she doesnt have a quality of life - easily could have been considered a candidate to remove food and water.

But she has 8 children, and friends in the hospital.
Now imagine if she was poor and had no one.

I am easily upset over the rights of the disabled since i live it first hand with my mom.

And if these neo politicians think they are beyond having a disability - they only fool themselves.

Anything at anytime could render them less than perfect. And what if some hospital considers them not fit to live? What if they scream inside to please help them and no one hears them? But due to their own laws - could have their sustenance cut off?

I saw it happen to my mom - going from healthy to disabled. She used to work in the cafeteria for the deaf children and she loved them even if they were deformed. However; due to a boiling oil accident - she lost her nervous system because of the illness she obtained. 😦

God could show these people while still alive the problem with cutting off life by rendering them the same - or He could wait til the after life. It would be a penance to do so while they are alive. But only God knows.

After all, we simply are not instinctual animals, we have intelligence and compassion.
