At the Christmas Eve Mass on EWTN the Friars knelt to receive Holy Communion.

I thought that perhaps this was special just for the Christmas Mass but, no. At the Daily Mass on EWTN this morning they again knelt to receive the Holy Eucharist.

This is very interesting.šŸ‘

Also, I saw on another web site that Father Joseph and Father Miquel have recently taken instruction from the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius to celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass.

Perhaps now we may periodically see a Latin Mass on EWTN.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful.:clapping: :amen:

The Latin Mass is either often or always offered at their Shrine, their daily Masses are Novus Ordo, but use lots of Latin and all of the traditional and more respectful practices. It has been this way for at least a year now.

At EWTN Masses at their chapel in Irondale and in both churches at the OLAM Shrine everyone kneels at the altar rail to receive Holy Communion.

When I visited EWTN in 2005, I attended Masses both at the Irondale chapel and at the OLAM Shrine.

I knelt at the altar rail at OLAM, but there was no rail in Irondale-had to stand.

Maybe they had kneeling later on?

I don’t get EWTN-just have ā€˜ordinary TV’, and I can’t get it on my computer (Rats!) 😦 -so I’m unable to see what has been done at their daily Mass.

There have been EF Masses at the Shrine since 2007…

Everyone has misunderstood my intent when I began this thread.

My intention was to point out that the Brothers now KNEEL before receiving Holy Communion at the small chapel from whence the ā€œDaily Massā€ is broadcast.

I am wondering if this is a small step toward encouraging all Communicants to kneel before receiving. There is no altar rail in this small chapel.

I was not talking about what takes place at the OLAM Shrine.🤷

This is amazing and awesome, and I pray for more frequent broadcasts of the TLM from EWTN now that there own priests know it. God be praised.

Thank you Brian, finally someone understood what I was trying to say. :tiphat: :extrahappy:

I think it was standard at one time to kneel to recieve communion. My church had a communion rail, they have since removed it.

However, this is a tradition that is still used. It’s not widely done for some reason, but it’s certainly one of those old traditions that are nice to see from time to time.

It’s probably just one of those things that they decided to do to get people through the line faster.
