EU to Catholic Doctors: Thou Shalt Abort

Do abortionists wish each other a Merry Christmas?

Every year one in three pregnancies worldwide ends in an abortion. A total of 40 million abortions are performed each year, which means that since 1980 one billion children have not been allowed to be born. Contemplating Baby Jesus in the crib one may wonder whether the fact that there are 6.5 billion of us today instead of 7.5 billion is a human achievement or not. Some think it is, some think it is not. But why do those who consider universal legalised abortion to be a sign of progress want to force those who regard abortion as a crime to be a part of it?

A European Union advisory panel has issued a statement saying that medical professionals are not allowed to refuse to participate in abortions. According to the EU Network of Independent Experts on Fundamental Rights doctors should be forced to perform abortions, even if they have conscientious objections, because the right to abort a child is an “international human right.”

The new “fundamental” rights always seem to bring a totalitarian mindset. Consider, the speech laws in Canada with the ascendance of Gay Marriage.

Abortion rights are the template. First Roe v Wade nuked states rights. Then the family assault began. Fathers did not have a right to be informed. Parents lost the right of consent and may lose the right to even be informed. In the name of choice some advocate tax payer funding of abortion; and now physicians may be forced to perform abortions. Of course, when the inalienable right to life is lost, all other rights seem inconsequential in comparison.

It’s interesting especially in light of the fact that the abortion industry argues that no one should have the right to force their moral opinions on others and that women should be allowed to determine their own bodies. Yet doctors do not get the same thing. I ironically wrote PP a letter like this starting out about how women were gauranteed the right to make moral decisions about their own bodies through Roe vs. Wade and then turned it around on them with the whole pharmicists should be allowed to be their own moral agents and not have moral opinions forced upon them. Needless to say, they did not respond…
