For those who choose not to consumed a dropped host, it should be immediately given to the priest, who will dispose of it by dissolving it in water and then disposing of the solution in the sacrarium of the church.
Interesting. I wasn’t aware of this practice.

.
THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN IF PEOPLE RECEIVED ON THE TONGUE LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO. TYPICAL VAT2 / CITH DESECRATION.

(You were all waiting for someone to stumble along and say it, weren’t you? :p)
But, sir, he DID try to receive it on his tongue. It fell off his tongue and onto the floor.

Where are the patens to prevent this from happening? Why were they ever removed along with the Communion rails? I will never know…maybe because it shows a lack in belief in the True Presence which is a widespread problem in The Church today

I’m glad you find this a joking matter…how sad are you? If it were done properly as prescribed by the Rubrics of the Missal of 1962, it would not have fallen because a Paten would have been placed below communicant to prevent it from falling.

Your post wasn’t amusing in the least bit…just shows the sad disposition of a lot of Catholics today
Indeed, it’s almost as though my post were a parody! 😉

And patens come with a zero percent failure rate? Pulleeeze. No, no host has ever hit the floor after bouncing off a patent, has it? 😛

C’mon, lighten up. The humor had to do with the **immediacy **and **inevitability **of someone bringing up, off topic, their opinion that COTH would have prevented such an occurance (as you have done), not about the concern over the potential desecration of the Eucharist.

Hosts get dropped, such is reality. Certainly, we should always keep this reality in mind and do what we can to prevent it. That part is not funny, and methinks nobody here is trying to make a joke out of it.

Slightly OT:

But whither the old man’s shoe? If that had happened to me, God forbid, I’d have a yearning to remove my shoe out of respect and then bury it at home directly after Mass concluded.

And you’d cut off your hands after taking communion and bury them? Not sure what your point is here.
