Eucharistic Adoration: Is this okay?

Both inside and outside adoration, my prayers consist of the serious and the not so serious. Things like for me, sport, friends etc are things that Jesus likes to hear about. Yes, he knows everything about them already, but I reckon he appreciates hearing them from me.

Exactly my thinking.
 
I think the Lord cares about those little things if they matter to us. I use to have pretty long conversations about toy trucks and cars with my nephew. I really didn’t care about the toys. I love him.
I would only be concerned if this were the ONLY things that you talked to Him about.

Definitely not the only thing we talk about. Like said in the original post I talk about my vocation, apologetics, forgiveness, and I listen and take in His Presence.

At times when I am into a particular football game, I do find myself praying for my team. I would feel that this is wrong but then it is a good thing that I want to turn to the Lord when I feel a need or just a want. I certainly don’t place my faith in the outcome . It is more that my relationship with Him includes the important and the lesser things like football.
I think it is good because it shows we have a relationship with Him. We don’t forget who he is as Lord God, Savior but that He has adopted us as children as well
 
I think that He wants your heart. If you refuse to offer Him whatever is occupying your attention, even though its silly, you’re not giving Him all of your heart.

Yes! There is a lack of balance if we bring only burdens and serious things to God.

I have not taken this approach to prayer that often but I wonder what might happen if I did.
 
I think that’s great. We should be able to talk to Jesus in any way we want, as long as it’s with respect.
 
I don’t think it’s okay. Wouldn’t old school Catholics call this a “distraction” talking about toys at Adoration? I don’t think it’s very respectful to call Jesus your “friend.” Would you think it’s fun to take out the Host of the monstrance and let Jesus ride in your toy fire truck? See what the other Adorers say.

Jesus is our God, our Savior. We owe Jesus our complete devotion and worship. Jesus is present in the host in the Monstrace. In His presence we should be on our knees worshiping Him. In fact we should be laying prostrate out of respect.

At Adoration I like to break up the hour into Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. I try to focus my mind on the topic and try to avoid letting my mind wander.
 
Our God loves to hear you speak to him. He is truly a Father who is interested in the loving words of his children. Keep it up
 
Maybe you can just tell His Mom, and let her sort out whether or not its a suitable topic. Then, you still get to talk about your favorite stuff, plus its somebody else’s fault if it wasn’t appropriately respectful… :D:D:D

My Irish grandma was born in 1901. She taught her children and then her grandchildren that the Tabernacle was Jesus’s room in His house (the church). She would encourage us to imagine Him in His rocking chair with His slippers on, wearing PJ’s of course, and reading His newspaper. He was just waiting for us to come visit and to have a long friendly chat with Him. It didn’t matter what we talked about, it just needed to be quiet in our minds from our heart. Jesus just wanted our company. On days when Jesus was “let out of His room” and in the “shining star,” those were very special days. He wasn’t “locked up” so we could see Him face to face. That’s when we got to know Him even better and became very good friends with Him. Grandma was a very old school Catholic who never wore pants, covered her head while she prayed in Latin, and wasn’t afraid to give us a guilt complex when we were wrong about something. She loved to remind us that we would make Jesus sad if we didn’t behave. If we didn’t view Him as our best friend I don’t think it would have had any impact on us that Jesus was sad.

Why would it matter what “old school Catholics” would call it? Or even what other adorers say? The OP never mentioned removing Jesus. Why would you?

Congratulations. I am glad that works for you. But that doesn’t work for everyone. And it is kind of ridiculous to think that your way is the only way.

Okay to be clear I am not loading or thinking about loading the Most Blessed Host into a car and going, “Vroom, vroom, vroom.” I would never do that. Also again to be clear I break up my adoration visits similarly to yours. I begin with Adoration prayer from St. Alphonsus Liguori. Then I say the Our Father, Hail Mary, and the Glory Be. Then I pray for forgiveness and the grace to fight temptation. I say prayers of thanks, and then prayers of petition. I generally do this in a more conversational manner, not a pure laundry list fashion. Then I just share things important to me with God.

How is it disrespectful to see Christ as a friend. Did he not call us friends in John 15:15? Also to be clear I am not praying to Christ with any less respect or reverence.
 
For many years I’ve talked to Jesus about my problems. I have is on good authority that He likes to talk to you about your interests and your problems.

You should put youself in God’s presence and it is not necessary to tal about anything because God can read our mines, so you can justt sit their and be silent for an hal an hour and you will gain a pleanary insdulgence.
