St Francis of Assisi was well known for frequent adoration of Eucharist, and JP2 also would spend hours in private adoration of. Then, JP2 called for a site of perpetual adoration of Eucharist in every Parish. How far are we to meeting that Papal goal ?

We’re very far from that goal. Many parishes did add Friday adoration, even overnight in some cases. I think many shy away because of the necessity of having continual watch over the chapel to protect the adorers from violence, to preserve the chapel from vandalism & Our Lord’s Body from being violated or stolen.

There is no greater comfort than finding Our Lord in the middle of a busy day & stepping into the silence to look on Him silently remaining with us, as the saints always called Him, ‘the willing prisoner of love’.

Nothing speaks to the virtue of the Papacy, quite like its consistent promotion of Eucharistic Adoration. No other source within the Church has championed this cause as effectively, as the Papacy. Amongst the modern popes, besides Pope John Paul II, Popes Benedict XVI, Leo XII, Pius X-XII, Paul VI, andJohn XXIII, have also championed the practice. As did St. Teresa of Avila, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Francis of Asissi, St. Therese of Lisseux, St. John Vianney, St. John of the Cross, Pope Gregory VII, St. Justin Martyr, Tertullian, and countless others.

I believe there are like 6,000 churches that have EA (not all = perpetual). I’ll have to find link for that figure though.

Thanks for the link to the adoration directory! But I find that my old parish which still has it (I’m pretty sure) isn’t listed. And the pickings are very slim in my diocese.

It would be lovely to see more perpetual adoration, though I imagine the perpetual bit will probably be limited to pretty big parishes.

A trivial question - does perpetual adoration cease over the Triduum? Or at least does it become “waiting by the tomb” wit the host concealed?

Our perpetual Eucharistic Adoration ends this evening at 11p.m. with night prayer. After the Mass of our Lords Supper, tomorrow evening, the hosts will be placed in the tabernacle on the altar of repose(which is in our attached adoration chapel) with night prayer ending at 11p.m. Hope that helps.

Thanks Goya - that does help.

Shouldn’t every Bishop make it their priority,…to establish a site in their Parish …in the Year of Faith ?

How does Pope Francis feel towards PA promotion ? Being a Jesuit, & student of St. Francis’ evangelical methods …I’d guess he would be strongly in favor of JP2’s goal become reality.

In our diocese the priority has been on catechesis - starting with the Nicene Creed and, later in the year, Vatican-II documents.

I’d like to see more adoration, but I think out Bishop and parish are doing well on other fronts (we do already have weekly adoration in our parish).
