I have never been to Eucharistic Adoration (I think this it is also called “Holy Hour”). My new parish has this devotion once a month, on the evening before First Fridays.

Can anybody tell me what this is, and what I can expect? Thanks for your help.

There is another thread in here called “what is an adoration chapel?” you can check it out and there are a lot of good things on what you can excpect. The first time I went I did not have any idea of what to expect I remember that it is very quiet, very peaceful, and it is as if time has no meaning there. The hour flew by and I was quite suprised when it was time leave. Someone on the other thread said it is like stepping out of time and I would agree with them. I started going to Eucharistic Adoration three years ago and I still go for at least an hour a week. My lilfe changed radically because of it. When you are sitting in the prescence of Jesus in the Eucharist it is hard to imagine that a life could not be changed.

It is adoring (praying, praising loving) Jesus. The host is on display, meaning Jesus is truly right before us…it is dead quiet and you just get to be in is presence…it is totally awesome!
