Did anyone attend the Eucharistic Congress in Chicago on August 5th? I was ill and unable to go. How was it?
As for the local news media coverage–because someone told the folks at WGN radio that there would be prayers said for peace, WGN reported that the Catholics would be having a Peace March (!)

We attended the Eucharistic procession held at the conclusion of the Knights of Columbus convention that was linked with it’s finale.
Approximately 5-6,000 people attended meeting either at Buckingham fountain in Grant Park or at the conclusion, meeting at or near the Bandshell at the other end of the park. Cardinal George gave a homily on the gospel that was proclaimed and a benediction was done concluding with a Eucharistic blessing. It was incredible. People carried banners from their parishes, or held home made signs, praying in their native tongues aloud as the Cardinal drew closer while carrying the monstrance. It was worth the trip and the day was warm and sunny which made it all the nicer. There were no protestors, not rioting, no mob action other than community prayer and reverence as they either walked in procession or stood along the boundairies, encouraging others to stop and pary along! It was a God-filled moment for all of us!
