Eucharistic procession Through the Streets of New York

Here’s a great you tube video about a Eucharistic procession through the streets of New York City.

It’s very inspiring, and to think that people at my parish are afraid to do a procession through more than just the parking lot because of how public we will be. Who could be ashamed of Our Lord? Not these people, who process through the busy streets of New York, proudly and reverently holding the monstrance high for all to see. And I love the way the priests are dressed! 🙂

Wow! Thank-you for the video. 🙂 Christ is desperately saying wake-up, come to Him. I agree with Pope John Paul that we need to be like the Apostles in these times we live in.
 
This is an excellent video. I’ve seen it a few times, but I never get tired of it.
 
What was the occassion? I still have dial-up and can’t really watch anything from You Tube. It plays about 2 seconds then has to think again.

We have a procession up Joy Avenue singing Tantum Ergo, part English part Latin. There’s a little park at the end of the block and we have a little service there. At the moment I can’t remember why we have it…memory isn’t my strong suit, and I’ve only been able to walk it once. There’s quite a crowd, we have an little table set up with a runner and candles, everybody sings.

When I lived in New York, a procession in the street wasn’t all that unusual, depending on where you were. In Brooklyn or Little Italy, it was pretty common.

What you’re describing sounds like a procession for Corpus Christi. Does this usually take place around June?

Everytime I see this video, I have to break out the tissues:crying: I actually ordered several copies of it from Grassroots and sent one to my Pastor and one to the Archbishop, with a little note suggesting how wonderful it might be to do this in the streets of Seattle. Could you imagine this in your city?

I was just in Seattle for the Father Corapi Lenten Retreat, and yes, I can imagine it there! Holy Family Parish where we attended the Latin chanted NO Mass was so beautiful and reverent. I can easily see them having a procession.

Yes, I was blessed and honored to cook for Father Corapi at that retreat! Most exciting thing ever!

Holy Family is one of perhaps 4 Parishes in the entire diocese like this. The others? Well, let’s just say “not so much”!

YES! That’s it! You know, every year I forget more and more. They tell me it’s the diabetes medicine (and it’s wrecked my hair too) but I’m afraid I’m just getting old. Father and I were commisserating Saturday morning at confession because I couldn’t remember the words to the Act of Contrition. He’s in his late 80s and welcomed me to old age! After all these years, I can’t remember the Apostles’ Creed. I have to read it.
