In light of remarks this year from both Nancy Pelosi and Ruth Bader Ginsburg that lean towards abortion as a good population control measure, do any of you out there have recommendations for reading about Catholicism and eugenics? I am hearing more about many Americans (and those abroad as well) believing in abortion as a way to control “undesirable” populations like the poor and the disabled (which to me takes abortion to a more sickening level than the “it my right to choose” rhetoric).

The only book I’ve read along these lines has been Amy Laura Hall’s “Conceiving Parenthood” but she is Methodist and I’d like a Catholic perspective on the matter. Any suggestions of books or articles?

Well, I’m not sure if this is from a Catholic perspective, but here is a link to a video about black eugenics and abortion:

I checked out the trailer and yes, that’s the kind of thing I’m looking for. I’m glad to see someone making a film about Sanger and her lot and how racist/classist they really were (and still are). Thanks emhansen!
