Eugenics is the act of improving human species through control of hereditary factors in mating. Hitler used this to try to create a super human race. He also killed all those that were mentally or phsically handicapped.
Euthanasia is the act of causing death painlessly, instead of treating the pain.

My Dear People of God,
In 1992 the people of the State of California voted against legalizing “assisted suicide.” Once again a bill (AB 654) is before the California legislature which would allow assisted suicide, under that Orwellian and euphemistic name of the “California Compassionate Choice Act.”
Again we have another direct attack in our society against the sanctity of life, which would lead doctors not to be healers and nurturers of life, but given the power to decide who lives and who dies and then empowered by law to do the killing directly. The American Medical Association holds that physician assisted suicide is fundamentally incompatible with the physician’s role as healer. We are not talking here of removing extraordinary means which may keep a person alive. This is already permitted by California law. We are talking here of physicians administering lethal drugs to kill their patients.
Assisted Suicide lesions the very value of a person’s life and leads the sick and elderly to be exploited by those who feel they are better off dead. People think of suicide especially when they are in depression which can come from a sense of not feeling loved and supported by those closest to them. A person could be pressured into choosing suicide for the sake of others, rather than the others being moved to manifest love and respect for the sick or elderly person. Economics are also driving this bill. In this age of cost control and managed care, HMO’s could easily consider physician assisted suicide as the best means for controlling costs of medical care. Pressure would soon be exerted especially upon the poor and those without insurance to opt for suicide.
On and on we go on about the dangers of assisted suicide, but the bottom line is that life is sacred. Each and every one of us has inherent value because we are made in the image and likeness of God. Being given the gift of life, we are meant to value human life and nurture human life. Life at every stage of our lives speaks of the loving presence of God, even in the midst of hardship, loneliness, sickness and suffering. Our late Holy Father witnessed so strongly to this especially in the waning years of his life. Let us do all in our power to witness to this sanctity of life. Write your California assembly representatives and ask them to stand up for life and not to support this bill.
