Today I went to Eurcharstic Adoration…how greatful I am for the opportunity to spend time with the Lord…anyway and I was interested what are people’s favorite prayers to do during this time.

Maybe you’ll have some cool ideas that will help me to grow in my faith.

Thank you in advanced,

elizabeth

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.

Our Lord to Sr. Benigna Consolata: “Make as many Spiritual Communions as possible, to supply for the many Sacramental Communions which are not made. One every quarter of an hour is not enough. Make them shorter, but more numerous.”

Prayer for Holy Communion
O my God, how displeasing my sins are to you.
Forgive me, cleanse me.
Help me to sing the perfect Kyrie eleison.
Come into my soul, and find it pleasing.
Repose in my heart.
Let Thy entirety, sweet Jesus, of Thee in the Eucharist,
engage me all the day, so when rest comes,
I may find my sleep in your sweet heart. Amen

I don’t often say formal prayers when I go to adoration. When I do it’s Liturgy of the Hours or the Rosary.

A nice thing to do is what’s called Lectio Divina. I have a neat little New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs which is excellent to carry around at such times - I rarely feel like lugging my Bible).

You pick a few passages from different parts of the New Testament, start by reading the first one one slowly - maybe three times or more - then just ponder it a bit, and pray with it and about it to the Lord, and really let it sink in. Then move on to the next.

I like to speak with the Lord. Sometimes I even listen:)
I pray my rosary and the divine mercy chaplet and make the stations of the cross.

I do not read very often.
I take time at the tabernacle daily.

Ave Maria!

Eternal Life [click on Booklets in the left margin] has some good catechetical materials by* Father Harden*. I have purchased a stack of My Holy Hour and put them out for use at our Adoration. They vanish rather rapidly.

Sister Mariam of Jesus Crucified had an intense devotion to the Holy Spirit, Possessor of the Truth without error or division. Through the Melkite Patriarch Gregory II Sayour, she sent a message to Pope Pius IX that the Church, even in seminaries, is neglecting true devotion to the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete. Her prayer to that great Unknown was:** “Holy Spirit, inspire me. Love of God consume me. Along the true road, lead me. Mary, my good mother, look down upon me. With Jesus, bless me. From all evil, all illusion, all danger, preserve me.” **This simple prayer has gone around the world. melkite.org/sa33.htm

I thought I would be typing St. Faustina’s prayer and praying at the same time. I use her prayer from her diary at adoration. I am sorry for the long prayer, I couldn’t find any web page containing this prayer; therefore, I type it out and hopefully someone will find it great.
O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the testament of God’s mercy for us, and especially for for poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus as proof of infinite mercy for us, and especially for poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained life eternal and of infinite mercy, dispensed in abundance to us and especially to poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the mercy of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit toward us, and especially toward poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the infinite price of mercy which will compensate for all our debts, and especially those of poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the fountain of living water which springs from infinite mercy for us, and especially for poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the fired of purest love which blazes forth from the bosom of the Eternal Father, as from an abyss of infinite mercy for us, and especially for poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the medicine for all our infirmities, flowing from infinite mercy, as from a fount, for us and especially for poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom is contained the union between God and us through His infinite mercy for us, and especially for poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, in whom are contained all the sentiments of the most sweet Heart of Jesus toward us, and especially poor sinners.

O Blessed Host, our only hope in all the sufferings and adversities of life.

O Blessed Host, our only hope in the midst of darkness and of storms within and without.

O Blessed Host, our only hope in life and at the hour of our death.

O Blessed Host, our only hope in the midst of adversities and floods of despair.

O Blessed Host, our holy hope in the midst of falsehood and treason.

O Blessed Host, our only hope in the midst of the darkness and godlessness which inundate the earth.

O Blessed Host, our only hope in the longing and pain in which no one will understand us.

O Blessed Host, our only hope in the toil and monotony of everyday life.

O Blessed Host, our only hope amid the ruin of our hopes and endeavors.

O Blessed Host, our only hope in the midst of the ravages of the enemy and the efforts of hell.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when the burdens are beyond my strength and I find my efforts are fruitless.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when storms toss my heart about and my fearful spirit tends to despair.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when my heart is about to tremble and mortal sweat moistens my brow.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when everything conspires against me and black despair creeps into my soul.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when my eyes will begin to grow dim to all temporal things and, for the first time, my spirit will behold the unknown worlds.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when my tasks will be beyond my strength and adversity will become my daily lot.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when the practice of virtue will appear difficult for me and my nature will grow rebellious.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when hostile blows will be aimed against me.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when my toils and efforts will be misjudged by others.

O Blessed Host, I trust in You when You judgments will resound over me; it is then that I will trust in the sea of Your Mercy.

Amen!

Would you happen to have it (or a link) in Vietnamese?

Thanks

I say my rosary, I read a random scripture passage and reflect on it, and then for the rest of the time I just sit quietly. Adoration brought me back to the church after a long absence…it is such a blessing!

tptram, I am sorry I don’t have the one in Vietnamese. My mom has the book in Vietnamese, I could ask her for it, but she lives in another state. When I have it, I send you the prayer. It is a beautiful prayer, isn’t it? 🙂

I find a journal helpful, and sometimes just begin writing my thoughts out to the Lord. He always ‘speaks back’ to me. Don’t know what it is about writing that starts the prayers flowing, but it does.
