Hello everyone,

Sadly, simply sending your child to a Catholic school today does not always guarantee that they will receive good formation (as I’ve observed other posts indicate all too well). I was shown what looks to be a new kind of option and it looks promising, but I wanted to get feedback on it. It’s called Living Nazareth (you can find it on Facebook or go to the page by using org at the end of the name; I would post a link, but am unable to).

Thanks and God bless you!

No link found. It would help people to know what kind of feedback you are looking for exactly.

I wasn’t able to post a link (the ability was being restricted). I’ll try again here: www. LivingNazareth .org (without the spaces).

As for feedback, anything and everything that comes to mind. It’s a fairly different model from anything I’ve encountered so I’d like to hear any perceived pros and cons of the model, especially if there are parents that have experience with different kinds of schooling options. Thanks.

Well, is it even up and running as a school? I’ve seen statements like ‘looking for a location for the school in the Shenandoah Valley’, but there is absolutely no physical address.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. They are actively looking for a location and hoping to start next year, God willing. I won’t have children that age for some time, so that detail isn’t pertinent to me just yet, but I was more interested in thoughts on the model itself (i.e. Is this a better model than other Catholic schools, diocesan or other independent options?). I know some of that depends on your particular child, but I think ao.e things should be universal right (like schools using ex-catholics to teach religion, as one post indicated).

Since there is no school yet, there is nothing for anyone to comment on. Since your children would not be able to attend for some time into the future, you might do better off waiting until the school actually exists and meet with school administration and parents.

It’s all too hypothetical at this point to actually give you any valid answers.

I found their website to be very light on specifics. If I were looking to send my child to a school, it wouldn’t be that one. Assuming there is mass every day as they hope, you are down to a 4 hour time frame in the classroom. It is a 4 day school week. Are they accredited? Do their teachers have teaching degrees? It sounds more like a concept than an actual school. I wonder how many people that are employed can also pay for one day a week of childcare when their child does not have school.
