Evangelization for the first time

Well I was talking to my sister last week and asked her when she is going to start taking confirmation classes, and she told me that she wants to change religion because she doesnt want to do them. Well I told her that with everything that I know about the Faith, I would not convert. She asked me why and I started to explain some of the things as to why I am and will remain Catholic. She started to ask questions about Mary, Mass, bible, and certain beliefs. She looked amazed when I was explaining this to her, and the next day I asked her if she wanted to learn more. She said yes, and I have decided to start with the sacraments. Within this though I will explain to her what the sacraments are and why they are important. I will also include apologetics so she can learn to defend the Faith. This will be my first evangelization endeavour, I pray that the Holy Spirit may work thru me.

I suggest picking up a copy of Catholicism For Dummies. It is a great primer for those getting started explaining the faith.

Just remember to build a foundation before you start getting into some of the more complex topics! You really can’t try to tackle some issues without at least some of the “basic” Catholic teachings.

I totally agree with you. I am avoiding going into complex topics for the time being and why Im starting with sacraments.
