Hi all,

In an attempt to help recatechize/catechize my parish I have been leaving catholic pamplets in the vestibule of my church (with Pastor’s permission).

I have been using many pamphlets from this website:

although I have found them to be informative, some might be a little complex ,but all are definately not eye catching. I have looked at other sites like OSV amongst others where the pamphlets are eye catching but I feel way oversimplified.

My question to the forums are 1) Do you know of any pamphlets/leaflets that you would recommend that have been paticularly useful to you or others that I should look into and 2) which topic do you feel I should try to address for the average lay Catholic?

For instance, I am going to address the topics of Purgatory and Limbo with my next printings as I have found that too many people seemingly get these thing confused or believe that the doctrine of purgatory has been changed or canceled. It was driving me crazy to have to explain it over and over again. Any other topics do you feel would be good to try and address?

By the way this has actually been a rather moderately successful campaign judged by the number of pamphlets taken if anyone wants to try it. I can give you some sites for the pamphlets I have been using that you can download and print free of charge. Many carry and ecclesiastical approval or a Imprateur (sp?) and Nihil Obstat (sp?)

We have the OSV pamphlets at my parish. I have to agree with you—they are oversimplified. I think, the main intent was to make the pamphlets easy, and quick reading.

There are 4 topics which constantly need to be restocked on the rack:

1.) How to be a good Catholic mom
2.) How to be a good Catholic dad
3.) How to make a good Confession
4.) Sex and Contraceptives

Thanks I will take a look at those. By the way if you want a really good free CD that you can order for you or your parish about Confession (as that is one pamphlet that you say your Parish runs out of ) you might want to look at Catholicity.com.

Sacred Heart Fathers have some good pamphlets aimes specifically at teens and young adults

intermirifica.com used to be the side for Fr. John Hardon’s pamphlets, which are also regularly advertised in OSV and other Catholic publications, which are excellent particularly for any topic related to the Eucharist, I will research that website and get back

our diocese also has pamphlets in hot topics such as annulments, basic faith facts, vocations etc.

I talked with the Assistant at our Parish Office, she says there is a 5th hot topic right now. Along with the four, I mentioned previously.

I want to buy a bunch of leaflets to drop off at places, or to go door to door and put them on doorknobs to evangelize.

Can you guys give me any advice? What kinds are the best? What sites could I get good ones from? What would be the best subject matter? (For example why someone should return to the Catholic Church).

Ignatius press has different flyers and If I recall they have a pamphlet for returning to the church. They sell them in 5 to whatever number.
 
HI I posted a similiar question a few days ago. I have a lot of sites that offers free leaflets that you can print and photocopy. Give me a private message if you want me to send you the links.

Catholic Answers has the best selection. You might want to get a few in another language, like Spanish or Tagalog.

Any in particular you would suggest. I am looking for topics that you feel people will pick up and read. Thanks.
 
For anyone who is interested, Catholics United for the Faith (CUF.org) has some pretty good faith tracts.
