Is it a sin or against catholic beliefs for a person to make an income in helping others learn and growth their faith?

There seem to be a lot of web pages in which people are spreading God’s word while also making a profit?

I can’t answer your questions so my reply is purely my own view.

Whilst feeling particularly vulnerable and before finding this forum,I signed up to a couple of sites where the patrons were claiming they could teach you how better to communicate with angels.

After a few weeks of friendly and vaguely informative emails,I started getting requests for money and requests and suggestions to buy their products.
Complete and utter nonsense.

At first I felt contempt, then disgust and then indifference, not very Catholic qualities I know.

That is how I would feel about what you are suggesting.

The best explanation I have ever found on the difference
between a true Evangelizers and a Christmonger
is in the Didache chapters 12,13,14.
Don’t be afraid. Each chapter is a paragraph.

It depends. I give talks at parishes and have led retreats. Most of the time I get a stipend for it. I don’t set a price, I take whatever they give me. If I don’t get anything that is OK too. But I also have a full time paid ministry as a DRE so I don’t need the money. Some people I know their only income is from speaking engagements and conducting workshops or leading retreats. It is only fair to compensate them for their time, travel, and hours of preparation.

Thank you for the response. Would you say it boils down to the person intentions? If the person is sincere in helping others find faith, grow their faith, and has a true impact on the community then what would be the issue with making an income from this work?
