I’m a catholic musician on the side, and I usually upload my songs for free on YouTube for the sake of evangelization instead of pure profit. I released an album a few months ago, and I put it on YouTube. A few months later, I end up getting about 12-30 views total. I’m kinda confused by that. I put in tags, a decent description, a catchy title, but it seems like YouTube has become so saturated it’s hard to get a video seen on there. Am I wrong?

I end up using another video website, and I get about 5x the viewings. So I’ve been focusing on there.

Anyway, I’m curious if anyone knows the secret tricks to evangelizing on YouTube with views. I mean, 12-30 views in two months is just sad.

I think most people on youtube look for less than good things. It probably is not the most effective way to evangelize or promote your record. I think accurately as you pointed out, youtube is saturated. My son is interested in playing sports at the college level and we were told that to reach college coaches, posting a video of oneself playing the sport is not very effective. I know that’s not your issue on you tube but I think the prinicpal still stands. My nephews did a lip sink video and posted on youtube and again except for family, there were very few views. I wish you well in your efforts.

And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall files on YouTube be.”

Theres that many songs and videos on youtube…it likely got lost in the mix…you could get more views by posting the link to it on catholic answers forums so that people here can listen to it and pass it on to others…also why not post the link to it in your post signature on catholic answers forums then in every post you make people will see the link and hopefully click on to it and listen to your songs

The best way to get views is to get as many people to like/share/subscribe as possible.

It’s not always easy!
