Bob Geiger:
Has anyone had any success in evangelizing JW’S?
Yes but you do need to know your Bible really well. I have helped two people leave.

I’m trying to study up for the nice couple who come to my door.

The best book I have ever read on how to evangelize JW’s is available on Catholic Answers shop.catholic.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/online-store/scstore/p-CB259.html?E+scstore. I have bought 3 copies so far and I give them away to people who express an interest in evangelizing the JW’s. It’s a really great book for that.

Concentrate and focus on proving the Divinity of Jesus Christ and the rest of their doctrines will crumble. You must do it by demonstrating it to them by their bible because they are taught that any other bible is not valid. The Watchtower has them brainwashed very well. A good book that I’ve used is “Answering Jehovahs Witnesses” by Jason Evert. Very Good. 👍

Thanks guys! Maybe I will be able to pick it up this weekend at the LA REC.

I helped (not caused) my sister to see the truth of the Watchtower Society, and she is now an exJW like me.
She is also interested in the Catholic church, but is stumbling over the big three:
  1. Purgatory
  2. Mary
  3. Praying to the Saints

Send her our way. 😉

You can’t use their version… it’s terribly corrupted!

In A Grossly misleading translation ( new world translation )

John 1:1, which reads “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God,” is shockingly mistranslated, “Originally the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god,” in a New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, published under the auspices of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Since my name is used and our Manual Grammar of the Greek New Testament is quoted on page 744 to seek to justify their translation I am making this statement.
The translation suggested in our Grammar for the disputed passage is, “the Word was deity.” Moffatt’s rendering is “the Word was divine.” William’s translation is, “the Word was God Himself.” Each translation reflects the dominant idea in the Greek. For, whenever an article does not precede a noun in Greek, that noun can either be considered as emphasizing the character, nature, essence or quality of a person or thing, as theos (God) does in John 1:1, or it can be translated in certain contexts as indefinite, as they have done. But of all the scholars in the world, as far as we know, none have translated this verse as Jehovah’s Witnesses have. Read more in A Grossly misleading translation ( new world translation )

Focusing on the real Bible and the real presence of Jesus, in his beautiful sacrifice for us, in his loving and forgiving nature is the way to go. I’ve been in the Church 5 years and I’m just now able to pray to Saints and Mary (sort of). You don’t have to get it all at once. But sitting in adoration of the Eucharist can go a long way toward healing her heart and soul, and encouraging her to trust…
