I didn’t know whether to put this in here, or in the media forum, but it has more to do with spirituality, so I decided it should be here.
I just watched a very good movie this morning called, “Eve and the Fire Horse.”
This is a interesting movie of a Chinese family, living in western Canada, who have two little girls, who go on a search for spiritual meaning. The family is culturally Buddhist, but not actually devote. After the death of the grandmother, two door to door evangelist come, and present Eve with a children’s book on the story of Jesus. Eventually, the two little girls find there way to a Catholic Sunday school, and begin to learn about Jesus, in accord with the Catholic faith. Eve of course embraces all of the religions she’s come across and of course brings her own Chinese culture to CCD class, where she shares, but is correct by the nun. Eve’s sister accepts the Catholic faith fully, and even has an mystical experience with the Blessed Mother.
Eve ends up on another path, but also has an experience that confirms her faith in God. In all this, the mother attempts to practice Buddhism more devoutly, but ends up dry and unconvinced. However, she allows the two girls to pursue the Catholic faith.
The reason why I bring this movie up in here, is because it does a good job of presenting what the Catholic faith looks like, to some one from a non-Christian culture, and how our faith can confuse them, and even scare them. But also, it shows that God teaches people through various means and for me, the movie showed that how we present Christ to others, is very important.
Anyway, I highly recommend the movie. If you happen to have Comcast on Demand, you can see it on the Sun-dance Channel.
