Evening Prayer and the LOTH

I think I’ve asked something similar in nature to this question before. Tomorrow is the Soleminity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, it begins during Evening Prayer tonight. Do we pray Evening Prayer I for all Solemnities, Feasts, and Memorials which we observe the following day? For example; the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul comes up near the end of this month, would we pray Evening Prayer I in this case?

My understanding is that unless the solemnity/feast/whatever has an Evening Prayer I indicated for it you wouldn’t. Not all of them do, I don’t think - for example Immaculate Heart, which falls the day after the Sacred Heart.

All Solemnities have First Vespers and also all Sundays and Feasts of the Lord that occur on Sunday (e.g. Holy Cross, Presentation, Transfiguration).

The Immaculate Heart is a Memorial, not a Solemnity, not even a Feast.

Note that the Immaculate Heart has an Evening Prayer indicated for Saturday, which is never used. The Evening Prayer I for Sunday always impedes it.
 
In the Novus Ordo, that evening prayer is used in places where the Immaculate Heart is observed as a solemnity, or celebrated as a Votive Office.

Except, I believe, in a location under the patronage of the IHM, in which case the day is celebrated with more solemnity (and which is why the proper Evening Prayer is provided).

The general rule is this.
  1. Solemnities ALWAYS have Evening Prayer I.
  2. Feasts of the Lord (e.g. Transfiguration) have Evening Prayer I ONLY IF it falls on a Sunday (i.e. EP I is prayed on Saturday).
  3. Memorials NEVER have Evening Prayer I.
It’s always best to have on hand a copy of your local Ordo when praying the LOTH.
