Enjoy the read mate and good luck with your doctors appointment! šŸ™‚ We’ll be sending prayers through.

ā€œAnd when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen shroud. and placed it in a tomb, where no one had ever been laid…and on the third day He will rise.ā€ The Shroud of Turin should have cleared doubt in anyone’s mind…I have always believed in the Resurrection, yet what a gift to have the Shroud, to. see for ourselves what our Merciful Jesus went through for us .I will pray for you. God bless you:šŸ¦‹šŸ¦‹

Struggling. I have read many of your posts and responded to a few of them. I think this is the last one I will respond to.
You ask questions no one can give your a scientifically provable answer to. We cannot put God under a microscope and there are no eyewitnesses to the events of two thousand years ago, or any of the apparitions and other faith supporting occurrences throughout history. That said, Jesus himself left us the answer. It is one that people who demand proof will not like and probably disregard. But I’ll offer it to you anyway.
Christ said, ā€œunless you shall become like these little children, you will not see God; for such as these is the kingdom of heaven made.ā€ He was telling us that it is necessary to be child-like in our faith and understanding. Child-like, not childish. Look into the eyes of a 4 year old on, say, Christmas morning. They will tell you Santa Claus came and left them a wonderful gift because on Christmas Eve he flies around in his sled with his reindeer and leaves toys and gifts for all little girls and boys. In that child’s eyes you will see faith, belief, trust, hope, love, and much, much more because Mommy and Daddy said it was true. We are, in the eyes of God, at least those of us who firmly believe in him, small children in comparison the Him, the Almighty. It is that trust that is manifested in us who believe in the answers we offer you. Like a little child, we cannot ā€œproveā€ the existence of God to the satisfaction, just like that child cannot ā€œproveā€ the existence of Santa Claus. We can only believe. Why, because Our Father has told us so.
So for you, as to your ā€œfaithā€, it is either fish or cut bait. This continuous asking of unanswerable questions is a waste of your time, and ours.
Shalom

fairs Joey I’ve seen a lot of this lad’s posts too but this is different because I know how ā€œprovingā€ the high odds of this helped me. This is literally the hinge pin of Christian belief. This is something the apostoles themselves had ā€œprovenā€ to themselves to some extent. If this happened all the accessories such as the historicity of the Exodus or this weird Bible verse over there or this and that… all that becomes easy to explain/accept fluff. I’m feeling a little hopeful for Struggling on this one. He does seem to put faith under a microscope but if he has the high odds of this proven he may find other things much easier to understand. Sorry, I get a bit excited when it comes to the Ressurection šŸ™‚

Ioana, Please understand, my post to Struggling was not meant to chastise or be overly critical. And I don’t condemn him/her for his/her viewpoint or question. It is simply that was said in the OP, Struggling maintains a ā€œhorrid question seriesā€ and is searching for answers to those questions. Definitive, incontrovertible answers (I am assuming). My point is, answers of a incontrovertible nature don’t exist to many of those questions. IN the final analysis, the answer is a matter of faith. An approach to faith from the standpoint of seeking absolute answers is a fool’s errand. Scientific evidence, autobiographical writings, and eyewitness accounts don’t exist in our day and age. Questions of his/her nature are a form of spiritual ā€œparalysis by analysis.ā€ You can spend a lifetime sitting on the fence waiting for definitive proof of something that cannot, by his/her standards, cannot be proven.
Shalom

  • The empty tomb discovered by women.
  • Even Jewish leaders acknowledge the empty tomb.
  • The witness of Peter and the 12.
  • The witness of over 500 brethren at once.
  • The conversion of Jesus’s brothers like James the Just.
  • The conversion of Saul of Tarsus (Paul the Apostle).
  • The total transformation of the apostles, even going to death for their belief.
The evidence is pretty strong.

Struggling is hyper sensitive to those types of comments. Agreed that he seems to be looking for more than we can give him here but I also don’t want him to fear posting.

I do think he is making progress. Slow progress but progress and I’d hate for him to lose what little help we do give.

I think a Spiritual Director may be good for you @Struggling1.

And John was thrown into a vat of boiling oil, but it appears not to have harmed him.

The greatest proof for the Resurrection is the changed life of the Apostles.

Before the Resurrection, they were hiding in fear, afraid they might be crucified, too. After the Resurrection, they went boldly about proclaiming the teachings of Christ. And, as one poster has said, all except John were martyred for it.

Thank you for the detailed response! Definitely not my intent to waste anyone’s time. I’ll turn to other resources in the future I apologize! Hope you have an excellent evening and thank you for the time you have spent trying to help!

I’m looking into it! It’s a huge task and burden though I’m sure so time will tell if it’s doable lol. Hope you are well.

I appreciate this I need to re read the epistles and letters of Paul. Do you happen to know if there’s any extra biblical documentation of the 500 other witnesses?

If you read my post, I can understand if you felt it accusatory or unfeeling. It was not meant in that manner although as I said, I can understand your perception. . The point I was making is that much of what you seek can not be answered by human logic, reasoning, or experience. And it is akin to a circular discussion. I guess I would say your questioning is fine, but it seems like you are looking for that aha moment in an answer and the nature of your question is not going to result in that. As I said I wouldn’t post again, I did mean that in the way that I felt it pointless in trying to discover the undiscoverable, and my/our catholic acceptance of things that can’t be proven in the purview of faith and belief, not reason or logic.
I apologize if you took any offense at what I said. Please understand that I did not mean the term ā€œwaste of timeā€ in a condescending manner.
Peace and good luck

I know you didn’t don’t worry! I assumed nothing but you being helpful. I hope you continue to do well.

Paul is the only one that mentions it. Most scholars believe Paul was quoting a witness list and creed he received in Jerusalem in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. Scholars date what Paul was quoting from 6 months to 5 years after the cross.

The Church holds a relic that is scientific evidence of Jesus resurrection, and that ancient relic is the Shroud of Turin. This linen cloth has a miraculous Image of Jesus’ corpse as it lay in the tomb. It also has His sacred blood. According to the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus’ corpse was not in the tomb when it was opened on Sunday morning. It had vanished. If His corpse had been removed by man from the inside of His burial cloth, the clotted blood would have torn the linen fibers. When this Shroud was subjected to an intensive scientific investigation in 1978, no evidence of torn linen fibers could be found. In addition, the investigation was unable to say how the Image was formed.

In 1988 a small part of the Shroud was cut off for a radiocarbon fourteen dating test. The results were astonishing. A 250 variance in the dates was recorded with the dates getting younger as the part of the sample tested became closer to the Shroud’s Image. The only theory that explains this anomoly as well as how the Image of His corpse was formed is the postulation that Jesus’ corpse vanished from the inside of His burial cloth into another dimension. A residual radiation of protons caused the Image while a residual neutron radiation caused some of the nitrogen in the linen cloth to convert into carbon fourteen. That is why the C-14 dates recorded become younger as the part tested becomed closer to the Image.

This theory is named the Historically Consistent Hypothesis and it is detailed in a book written by Mark Antonacci in collaboration with Robert Rucker, a nuclear physicist. If you really want evidence of the Lord’s resurrection, you should read this book: TEST THE SHROUD, Antonacci, 2015.
