How do you live a happy life acknowledging evil will always exist? This recent Brock Turner thing has disturbed me not only this but whole Orlando shooting truly disturbs me. That Orlando thing just bothers me so much. I do not understand. Oh Lord have mercy.

There is evil but there is also good. We must act with prudence to avoid evil or minimize its effect, but we must not fix our attention at all times upon evil. Look for the good in the world. Work to bring about more good. Rejoice and thank God for the good people among us and the good things that happen.

Grace & Peace!

Pelagia, here’s the thing: evil will not always exist. In fact, evil has no positive existence at all right now: we know evil only when we see the good obscured or wounded; we know evil by the damage it does. A purely evil thing or being is completely impossible, simply by virtue of the fact that being itself is a fundamental good. This is a very very old idea.

The point, though, is not to worry about the evil. The point is to promote and support the good! That’s the whole point of being disturbed: to motivate you to support the good; to motivate you to love more.

Under the Mercy,
Mark

All is Grace and Mercy! Deo Gratias!

What’s the alternative? If we throw in the towel because evil will always exist, Satan wins.

We shouldn’t simply stand idly by and wring our hands helplessly as we watch evil unfold before our eyes, however. Most of us are not in a position to tackle major evil acts directly. Do what you can with what you have. The chances that I may be able to stop a terrorist attack in progress are virtually nil, but I could have some influence in a child’s life that prevents him or her from growing up to perpetrate such acts.

We may not be able to eradicate all evil, but if our actions lessen the evil in the world even by just a little bit, surely that is better than allowing it to reign unbridled.

Evil will always exist.
This is an absolute statement, not referring to past, present, or future but to all three. If “evil” is the antithesis of all that God stands for, we should not say that active evil will always exist. Sacred Scripture states:
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21:4, KJV)
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. (Isaiah 65:17, KJV)
Sacred Tradition attests to what would happen after the creation of the new heavens and new earth especially in the Eastern Orthodox tradition (the most notable part is divinization).

Evil will always exist as things are now, though.

Evil will always exist. Hell is indeed eternal. And evil will exist on earth until the second coming of Christ.
However it is our goal as Christians to make it to heaven where evil cannot be.

Evil is a result of an ignorance against the Trinitarianly known divine radiance.

There is evil in the world right now, but there won’t always be evil …there’s a lake of fire waiting to destroy all that is evil. As to living a happy life, we’re not meant to fear those that can kill the body but not the soul. We should pray for those people who have had their lives taken away. Putting trust in God is how you’ll have a happy life.
