Science is a great tool. It must also know when it oversteps its bounds and its conclusions wander into philosophy.I’ll concede that a Christian perspective offers much firmer ground for the scientist to stand on, but I still think science is a tool for understanding the physical world. Things that are unseen and unknowable outside of faith cannot be the subject of scientific inquiry. This would seem, to me at least, by design. If the end goal is a trusting relationship with God, there has to be room for that “leap of faith” all believers are willing to take. As the Nicene Creed so eloquently states “We believe (I believe) in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.”
The only way to God is through trust and faith. You may see God’s thumbprint on creation, but only because you look with faithful eyes. Faith is a gift.
