Yes, the title is bland, shallow, and done to death.

First off, let me say that I’m not expert on the faith (agnostic here), and that I appreciate everyone’s contribution so long as it is not flaming, propaganda, or nonsense. I think we all want that right?

First day in the forums, might as well give it a shot.

I want everybody that believes in evolution to talk to me on this one. I would like to see what people of the faith say when I ask them this- this may not even be a new or interesting question since I have ignorantly forsaken the search button, sorry xD

Since evolution is quite real (again, only for those that believe it), then we must accept the fact that we will one day evolve into a different species, mright? Barring the notion of us going extinct or our dominance leading us to never having to be sorted out again through the Survival of the Fittest (though that still does come into play), then I think we can assume that geographical separation will be one of the larger reasons that we as a species evolve.

The point I’m trying to make is this:

Millions of years from now we will be a different species, maybe even multiple different species. No longer homo-sapiens, or humans, but whatever we might be called way way far into tomorrow. Would all the tenents of God still be in place? I mean, does it still apply to an entirely different species?

That’s just a thought I had one day. Not sure if many people have had that thought, or if it’s of any significance, but I thought I’d throw it out. I think some religions state that we were created in his image, but how does that work if we’re gone, and a new species is there that evolved from us?

I guess that’s as clear and comprehensible I can make it for now. I hope everyone understands the question. Would the faith still be the same, what would the difference be, and would it really matter for your beliefs if we evolved into a new species in the future? Would there have to be major changes made to the basic beliefs? Would Jesus dying for our sins still be relevant with a new species of evolved humans?

Again, no expert on the field of religion, so any fallacies stated in this little question will be the fault of my ignorance. But at least that’ll mean I will learn something, and that’s awesome.

Cheers!

Hello and good day to you SoulBeaver and welcome to CAF.

I do not have much or anything to contribute to your post/inquiry but a simple greeting and a simple story.

I hope, trust and believe that when one has faith it will survive in the future. As long as humanity lives there will always be something being passed into future generations.

A short personal story of two agnostics. Both of them were born, baptized and raised Catholic. As they got older, they became agnostics. Married each other and they are good humans.

In their late 20’s they had 2 kids. 1 boy, 1 girl.

As the kids grew up, they fell in love with religion and deeply in love with Christ.

Now, keep in mind that these 2 kids didn’t grow up in a house of “religion”

The boy converted to Catholicism and so did his sister. These kids are now 19 and 18.

Both parents (agnostics) never once stopped their kids from finding out about faith… that’s pretty cool.

I believe that this will continue into the future. Don’t know about 1000 or 10,000 years from now, but as long as man can think and ask and seek, Christ will be there for those who need him.

Just my 2 cents without my crystal ball… 😛

Be well and best regards,
Pam

Hey Pam ^^

Thanks for the welcome- I was actually brought here by a friend who is telling me that I should convert to the faith. I will hold my breath on that one, but it is interesting to read these forums 😃

I wanted to point out that I was raised in a similar manner. Coming from Germany, one of the more present religions is Evangelism (I think) which I attended somewhat regularly before my parents stopped going.

However, before they stopped I was baptized, and my parents were considering giving me a communion.

Some time later it was my dad that took me to Sunday church for a couple of months as well as intensive 1 on 1 time between him and the local preachers. However, I never felt satisfied with explanations, reasons, or the bible, so I decided to jump on the fence and grind its rails for a while.

Point is, I can’t really see a reason to deny my potential children the right to explore, find, or become enlightened with religion, be it Catholicism or else.

So thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut, and I, too, have made the thought that religion will prevail in the far future. I just don’t know to what extent. In this age of information technology it would be pretty hard to just ‘lose’ the religion of Jesus Christ, but I often wonder how it would be changed for our future needs.

That also begs me to question the authenticity of the bible and other scriptures if they would indeed be modified to suit the time’s needs. I can’t argue that change is probably needed when there is an entirely different species of intelligent creatures, but I wonder if that would make the faith less… pure. You know? How many changes can you make to Christianity over millions of years before you can no longer call it that?

Does that mean it’s wrong? We in that time will probably think it is the true religion- along with a few others just like today. So would that make our current religion wrong, or theirs? Our beliefs would probably only be united by faith in God- is that enough?

So, just one of the questions that I would like a satisfying answer for before I could even consider climbing down the fence. I don’t think I ever will for it is a comfy fence and my insecurity will probably remain because faith, not intellectual knowledge, is needed to believe. Faith, I think, can’t be gained from intelligence.

Because the next question I will have to decide my faith will probably come from the helpful answers I find here…

So thanks again Pam, I feel very welcomed ^^ To good times! 😃

Cheers!

Hello Soulbeaver,

You raise a great question for those who believe in this dogma . Ive had brought this up before when I said If evolution is true then mankind has no firm grounding of what he was in his past or what he will become in the future. Its meant to bring confusion , the theory itself confuses variations of species into something all together different. This is why people so easily fall prey to this zombie science.

The point I’m trying to make is this:

Millions of years from now we will be a different species, maybe even multiple different species. No longer homo-sapiens, or humans, but whatever we might be called way way far into tomorrow. I think that is up to God to decide. There is no way for us to know in the future whether we will be be the same species or whether new tenets would be applicable.

What we do know is the past and the present.

Good morning people 😃

Thanks for the replies, it has given me a little thought- especially what Dale_M said. TruthisBeauty7, it’s fine that you don’t believe in it, at least you won’t have to pester yourself with this question then, eh?

Anyway, back to what Dale_M said. If we assume that the future of our species will also hold a future version of religion, not particularly any religion as I believe that all of them will have undergone huge transformations, then you say that it is up to God to decide.

That’s all well in good that in the future our tenents may or may not be changed and that it is up to God to decide. So no matter how we change it in the future, God would be the one deciding over our fates irregardless of the religious differences. At least that’s how I assumed your statement.

So wouldn’t that mean all of our quarrels with religious differences NOW becomes insignificant? If it is up to God to decide, then it must also be now that God is deciding over us, isn’t it? Wouldn’t that mean that all the fighting about sects, different major religions, etc is trite and trivial?

Cheers!

When we look at Genesis, we are told that we are created in the image of God, are we created in a physical image of God?

Or are we spiritually created in the image of God? That we ‘Homo-Sapiens’ and our offspring will be given souls by God?

When we reproduce, and God bestows upon the new life that is brought into the world a soul, can this not account still true when variation falls upon the offspring.

After all, Evolution is just merely so much variation that changes from the original, we under some circumstance would be the same species, while completely different.

If we come from the line in which ‘Homo-Sapiens’ are granted the uniqueness, to be created in the image of God by Soul, surely when we have offspring that comes from the parent ‘homo-sapien’ God could establish a soul in that offspring.

I personally think the tenents would still be there, after all, what seperates us from the animal? That we were created in the image of God.

Good day.

God Bless.

Chris.

If Evolution is true, why is there no animals Evolving into something new right now, and why aren’t there millions of “in-between” skeletons everywhere.

Careful Techno2000, be very careful.

I am not debating the existence of evolution with you. Leave that to another thread please. I want to argue the effects of evolution on religion and a future species of us.

As I have stated in the beginning, this is for those that believe in it, because those that don’t cannot identify with this question as it appears to be just a little bit stupid. But please, do not try to argue the principle of evolution in here- that was not the thread’s intended purpose.

Cheers!

Hi SoulBeaver,
Actually I just threw out that question for everybody.😃

Did you really have to? That really isn’t why I wrote this thread. I didn’t want to engage in yet another discussion about evolution, but a facet of it for the people that have already decided it was true. Please don’t throw out this question with the attempts of murdering my attempt to gain interesting opinions from everybody else here on the forums.

A flame war may be started later if you wish, but I don’t feel satisfied with the responses yet. I want to hear more from different people with different opinions, different perspectives, different lifestyles and experiences.

When that is said and done, THEN we can throw out the big evolution/creationist question and have everybody go slap-happy. But not yet please.

Cheers!

If God can never change into something New, then his children can’t either .

First off, I’m not sure I agree that we will ever evolve into another species because we control so many of the things that act as selection mechanisms. We don’t have to physically adapt to climate extremes or diseases like other animals because we control those things.

But to your question. Assuming that we do evolve to another species, we will do so at the will of God and we will continue in the image of God because our souls don’t evolve.
I think some religions state that we were created in his image, but how does that work if we’re gone, and a new species is there that evolved from us?
Yes, being created in His image is a basic Christian belief. God doesn’t look like us. He is a spirit. Our souls are spirit and will not change.

Peace

Tim

I think most of the fighting (if you mean actual violence) is ill-conceived and counter-productive.

But if you simply mean disagreements between between the religions, then I think your conclusion is overreaching. It is based upon a highly, highly speculative possibility (God creating a new religion).

Soul Beaver,
Perhaps you would be familiar with the Christian belief that there is going to be an interruption of “evolution” by virtue of the Millenium and the end of the kind of world we live on as the planet earth.

I believe other earths are out there in the universe or the “multi-universes”, however one chooses to describe the vastness of the universe and the theories that are still only theories (string theory, etc.). If evolution is consistent throughout the universe, then one would logically assume that there are beings far more advanced than we are, and one could assume that humankind have the potential to continue progressing after each person’s resurrection. One could also assume that God is aware of and pleased with our progression both here on earth and after we are resurrected.

Have a good day.
