People say complexity can be accounted for by natural selection and genetic mutation; therefore this must mean that intelligent design is not true. I disagree. Whether or not we see complex things occurring through natural means doesn’t mean to say that a designer is not behind it. It seems to me that nature is designed, and in fact is artificial; that’s the feeling I get when I look at the things that our reality produces. Why is an atom and atom? What amazes me, is that people take the complexity of life so lightly, that they never stop to ask them selves
“Why would natural forces act in such away that it could actualize, at any given random moment, the possibility of life?”
The fact that life is a possibility, whether it’s actualized or not, should give you a shiver down the spine.
I mean we live in a reality that can produce life including intelligent beings that Love each other and freely give to one another. In reality, if we are only matter, just mindless atoms, then it goes against the genes for us to have freewill; to be able to consciously choose. In reality, we shouldn’t be able to do this. We should be like every other animal; ruled by instinct. It is unreasonable to think that any complex patterns, or arrangements of atoms, would give rise to self awareness. Why should matter become aware of its self? There is nothing in nature, or the atom, that suggests to me that it should be the case that unconscious structures will become aware, given the right condition; and it should amaze and provoke anybody into thinking that there is more to life then just matter. And according to the big bang theory, the world began; time space, everything. How much more obvious can it get?
Even if I found my Christian belief to be untrue, I could never reasonably think that this reality, in which I exist and comprehend, is a product of its own making.
Don’t get me wrong. I doubted for a long time, and almost lost my faith, because I thought that atheism was more reasonable, and it was also partly because I was scared to apply logic and reason to my faith, thinking that those things opposed my beliefs. I ended up attacking and hating evolution, I refused to educate my self in the sciences, seeing it as a threat. I was a big young earth creationist buff. In my mind, science was for the atheists, and the bible was for the theists. But then one day, I open my heart, finding it impossible to hold on to young earth creationism, in opposition to evolution. I began studying, looking at the facts; I looked at the possibilities; and then I found out that I was under the power of an atheist illusion. The idea that Evolution proves atheism or disproves Christianity, is a fallacy. You could call it the Dawkins delusion. I am now a theistic evolutionist.
In the end it’s about education, and having the strength to follow logic and reason whether ever it takes you. I guarantee you that it will lead you to God. Have faith and don’t be scared of science; it’s not a vehicle for atheism, it is one such method of knowing truth.
